Well due to some generous DG members I got some cuttings for postage I have rooted all but 3 that rotted..all the others have been potted.
I rooted this using a bubbler others just in a jar with water.Had more sucess with the bubbler..
The only ones that rotted were green cuttings .but all my hardwood cuttings have rooted.I am so excited...
Now what I need to know is can I start feeding them.We dont have much of a cold winter here.maybe 10 days total of cold per winter if that much and maybe 1 or 2 days of light freezes..
Yahoo ! Newbie trying her hand at rooting Brugs !
Hi Elva,
Congrats on getting them rooted. Sorry some didn't make it.
For fertilizing a new cutting freshly rooted I would wait a couple of weeks before doing so. I know of others who start right away but I wait several weeks after freshly planting them in soil. I would then just start with a weak solution of your favorite fertilizer and then gradually go to full strength.
Maybe someone else that lives in your area will pop in and inform you better than me. I don't have the same weather as you and bring mine indoors this time of year.
Enjoy and good luck!
Oh Boy it's your special day.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!
Happy birthday. Hope your day was wonderful. Your cuttings will be on the way as soon as butterfly blooms out a bit. It kills me to lop off a lot of blossoms. Are you going to keep your cuttings indoors or out? I just use osmocote in winter for pots and the groundbound. (that's a lie I use it all of the time cause I am constitutionally unable to feed weekly) and give no additional fertilizers. I root everything in soil. The one time I tried in water, I got tadpoles in my brugs!
They are all in pots now .so If I have to bring them in I will.
Tadpoles ? LOl Too funny !
Thanks for the Birthday wishes everyone.
Had a great day, recived roses from DH and went for a nice steak dinner.got $200.00 from hom for whatever else I wanted, got a watch , a necklace set and a couple of outfits from my 2 daughters...
Hubby even got me flowers from Ginger my dog.LOl
Happy Happy Birthday and congrats on the rooted cuttings !! You will never forget when now :))
