GORGEOUS! What kind of pots do you have them in?

Fayetteville, NC(Zone 8a)

Oh, I am green with envy. They are gorgeous!

Silver Spring, MD

Thanks all. They are in painted clay pots. I like clay pots because the soil doen't get too wet.

I recognize that "baby tupperware" underneath too :) lol... that's my method on some plants too :)

Wow, and double wow!! All those plants in full bloom have given me something to aspire to. Way to go!

MrsC and critter--Remember me? You babysat me through my AV woes. Well....the news is all bad. I lost every plant. So, I'm using my little indoor greenhouse space to winter over my new coleus collection and my new Christmas cactus trades, along with a few other things. In the spring I will try again with the violets. I'm not giving up, I'm just taking a break from the stress!! Pictures like those above just make me drool.

Diane,
Of course we remember you!
I'm so sorry to hear you lost your AV's!
Maybe you had a bad set of AV's to start with???

Oh, no! Let us know when you have space available to try again, Diane... I have a couple of NOID varieties that have proven very tough & reliable.

You both are so sweet. Thank you very much. I hated to tell you 'cuz you both tried so hard to talk me through it.

I think the plants were OK to start with. I'd had them a year and they didn't bloom, but they looked OK. But once they went, they really went. I am looking forward to trying again, and I am determined that there's got to be a way to do this. I rarely loose anything else (except seeds--I'm terrible with seeds) so I don't know what happened. Of course, since I do grow other things well, maybe I should just give up on the AVs. No sense in beating a dead horse, my grandma used to say. But then I see pics of everyone else's and I know I can figure this out!! It's a good thing I'm not allowed to drive yet, as I would have been at the stores looking for their big markdowns. My friend in Florida that got me started on them in the first place told me today that she bought several for 75% off at her Lowe's. She has one that has not stopped blooming for over three years and is crawling out of its pot. There are so many different colors and shapes, and I truly love them. I thought this time it was going to work. I must put out bad vibes or something, as I worry over them so much.

When you are ready to start I will have starter plants for you. Most of the plants in the window have leaves that are beginning to ear. By Spring I should be loaded with plantlets. They are yours if you want them.

Nanna October Window Beauties ! Can you believe it's been a year .

The older I get the more I realize that time is not the determining factor. Love and friends are.

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Yes this is so true Nanna :)) Each moment and day and friend is a gift from God !

Nanna! You have gorgeous plants! WOW, I am speachless!

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Nanna has the most perfect plants always. Maybe a show plant next year Nanna ! Are you still going to your Av groups !

Silver Spring, MD

The thoughts of a show are very scarry to me. I love to go to the Baltimore meetings and learn all I can. Last month I discovered that my plants were getting too much light. With the fixtures I have 8 or 9 hours per day is plenty. It could be that I already have lots of naturnal light in my house and 12 hours of additional light was just too much.

There is a plant sell in Baltimore this month but I have spent my limit for the next two months already. I might go and leave money, cards, and checks home.

I really enjoyed going to the meetings and learned new each time ! There were amazing growers as the group started in 1950's I think it was. Your plants are so perfect looking I think you could do it. Just for fun ! I can't get over them.

That was last year. I really have had some pretty plants. They are a little neglected now. I still enjoy them very much. Thanks for the encouragement.

What a beautiful October Window you have!!! I'm going to borrow your baby tupperware idea. I too have some of mine potted in painted clay pots. I can seem to grow them in those and not drown them, LOL AV's cannot swim....Lauri

nanna, I'm soooo happy to see you back with us! I've missed you!

Thanks RainGazer. I love to use our forum names. First of all because I am very absent minded and can't remember anything. But, mostly because it's like being on a waki-taki.
