re: epsom salt

Someone mentioned possibly using epsom salt on a plant whose leaves were pale greenish/yellow. How much do you use? What proportion to water? I have my very first plant, it's definitely sickly looking but it's got it's first flower! I've got it in the dining room in the bay window facing south. Does this sound right for the winter? Thanks so much for your help.

The box says, "1/2 Cup per gallon of water for potted plants". Then water with same every 4 weeks. Hope this helps.

Or get some Alfalfa pellets--1 cup to gallon of water soaked over night and scooped around the base of the plants will help increase the greenness of the leaves!! Bonnie

Everytime I bring a brug into the house for winter, they start looking sickly. I have one in the living room right now that has 11 buds on it and no leaves. For me, they always drop most or all of their leaves when they come in. Must be shock or something. My Epson salts package says to sprinkle two TBS. around a plant and water in. Probably close to the same when all is said and done. Just easier for me if I only have one plant to treat. Good Luck. I hope it straightens up for you. Make sure to keep a "mite" watch too. They can make them look bad pretty fast.

Oh yeah!! Winter care--sometimes the cuttings/plant brought in for winter do lose all the leaves. This in my experience is normal. They will still grow back.

thanks for asking, and thanks for the recipes. now that my brugs are rewarding me, i'd really want to take care of them the best i could.
