OK.....I recognize quite a few of the names here from "other" garden sites I belong to (the free garden site of course *lol*) and was just curious where I should write this.
Since I am most active in the "trading" section of the other site I thought this would be a good place to start.
Today I received an e-mail that I had a subscription for a year at Dave's Garden. I was totally tickled pink and then realized that it's $15.00 a year and I didn't subscribe to Dave's Garden. I have sent an e-mail asking who authorized the subscription?
IF one of you fellow gardeners from the "other" site did this for me (my birthday was Monday), I would really love to know who so that I can thank you personally!
I don't know a thing about this site other than everything I used to click on was only allowed for paying subscribers and I'm just too cheap to pay to belong to a website and things are just too tight for that kind of splendor. It's OK to pay shipping for plants though *lol*.
Anways, I truly appreciate the kind gesture and would truly like to know which one of my friends out there did this.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart,
kimskreations
HMMMM I think This is Where I Should Post This?
Welcome to Dave's Garden, no matter how you go here. You will really enjoy it. I've only been a member since this summer and I'm an addict already.

"It's OK to pay shipping for plants though *lol*."
ROFL. That is so very true.
Welcome to DG, Kim. It's a great place to be. And I hope you had a great birthday.

Hi Kim, And welcome. What a thoughtful gesture someone has made for you. Someone obviously cares alot for you. We are so glad you are her. I do occasionally visit the other site, but I love this site and its ease of posting pics and the way the site is set up. Not to mention how wonderful the people are.
Thank you all for the kind welcome's. I am really looking forward to meeting and trading with you all.
I found out who my sneaky little detective was and I hope it's OK to share this here (I think it will be OK).
I met this person on the "free site". She was my secret pal (I sent to her) for 9 months. My pal in the exchange quit (went missing) 7 months into the exchange. I continued to send for 2 months but then it just got too hard for me as every time there was no mail in my mailbox (which is an indication there is a box in the shed) I would anxiously open the shed doors to find.....no box.....no mail. This happened time after time. After much thought I decided that I needed to drop out of the exchange as it was just too emotional for me (like someone forgetting your birthday year after year or sending a special plant over and over and not receiving your end of the trade). It's hard to explain if you haven't experienced the feeling. I know that giving is better than receiving but we're all human and when we join an "exchange" we like to "exchange". I wrote a nice letter to my Secret Pal explaining my feelings. She totally understood as this has happened to her also. I was literally crying and had a huge lump in my throat as I wrote the e-mail as she had been "my California girl" for 9 months! I asked the organizer of the exchange to find her a new Secret Pal and explained why I needed to drop out (it wasn't just emotional but also financial right now because my son just had $11,000 knee surgery, I just went back to work, and I was hospitilized in March) so it's been hard day to day. My Secret Pal and I have vowed to stay friends via e-mail, snail mail and I will be sending her "surprises" whenever I see something that screams her name. I will forever have her address (until she moves to Maine to be my neighbor *lol*) and now she can receive from 2 people (her new pal and me). She won't have to post what she receives from me on the forum, it will be our little secret.
So......now she does this little secret thing for me? It simply amazes me how thoughtful some people are to someone they have never met in person! I truly feel blessed to have met her and will ALWAYS consider her my Secret Pal.
Now who is this very special person in my life you ask?..........
Why it's........ BecksterCa of course!
Becky sweetie, thank you SO SO MUCH for the subscription to Dave's! This is SUCH the PERFECT gift for me. I feel like I get to discover a whole new world! I can click on links that open, pictures I can view, and even start a thread! I'm free to roam the Garden and it's all because you are who you are and I care deeply for you my friend!
Sincerely,
Kim
That's just the type of friends you will meet here at Dave's. Welcome to our family and I hope to trade with you soon. Trades are the most fun! Lou
What is the "other" site? I'm new to all of this. I don't think the Dave's Garden Police Force is going to bust anyone for mentoning the name of another trading forum.
Steve
Kim welcome to daves Robin
Welcome to the other side Kim!

Welcome Kim!
I didn't know if it was worth the 15.00 either so i did the 5.00 2 month deal and let me just say it was the best money i have ever spent. The people are great and you wouldn't belive what i have added to my gardens from trades! I just paid for the full year and plan to keep paying every year. These people know where to get plants, what they are and how to care for them. I use the plant files almost every day. I use or watch almost every forum. My morning coffee just wouldn't be the same without this site.
Have fun and maybe we will be "trading buddies" soon
George
Wow, you have all made me feel so at home here. I thank you so much for the warm welcome. I hope to get to know you all a little better and look forward to trading with everyone.
Thank you again for making me feel welcome here.
Kim
Welcome to Dave's !! This is the most loving, caring garden spot on Earth. Prayer Warriors abound !! This is THE place to be for finding new friends, finding gardening tips and getting cheered up on a bad day. Trust me, I know of what I write. I am a longterm Caregiver and sometimes I need an emotional outlet and here it is. So glad you have joined us.
Always,
Margo
