Raja Puri

Waverly, MO(Zone 5b)

Here is a picture of the base of my Raja Puri. It is truly amazing how much they can grow in one year.
I can't imagine how heavy it is going to be when I dig it up.

I am going to put it in my garage.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 4a)

Is your garage heated?

Myrtle Beach, SC

lol what is it ?>?>

Waverly, MO(Zone 5b)

It is attached to the house. When it gets really cold I run a space heater.

Lucky you to have a garage. Wish we had one.

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Better get the winch truck out,it'ds gonna weigh over 100 pounds!!
Or throw a banana rising party!!!!

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

T-man is right! It will take several people to move that one inside! It's HUGE!

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

It took four of us to lift mine out of the hole last year and place it on a trailer to go to the garage.

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Being the banana is over 75% water, its too bad you can't take a beer tap and insert at base of banana plant and drain a few gallons of wateer to make the plant a lot lighter!!!LOL

(Linda) Winfield, KS(Zone 6a)

bruglover how much more did it grow this year over last year? Like Tropicman said you may need a beer tap. That is one nice looking nana.

Waverly, MO(Zone 5b)

Believe it or not it is the center little banana in the picture by the little potted banana. As you can see it was a pup I had taken off in the fall of 04 and planted this year. I am not sure why it grew so much this year because I have 2 year old ones that are not that large.
It must have liked where I put it!!

2pugdogs I sure am glad you asked that. It made me go back and look at pictures and
you forget how bare it looked. The picture on the post above was from May 28. This
picture is from the first of Sept. from about the same angle. Things sure changed!!

Bruglover , you need some more plants in your yard ... I see way too much grass

lol

Great display you have there tho.

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Bruglover the banana with the trunk cut off,did that one comeback to grow,it's huge,or did it die and feed the others that surround it?

Waverly, MO(Zone 5b)

Tropicman-It died and fed the others around it. I was kinda mad at myself for cutting it down last year but I didn't have any help and I couldn't get it by myself. But the 3 babies surrounding it really took off so it turned out okay. But they are all still attached to that
center one I guess. They are all three at least 18 foot tall. Haven't dug it up yet. Not sure how to deal with it. Scooterbug-I thought so to until I started digging it all up and taking it
in and trying to find room. I must be crazy!!!

Osage City, KS(Zone 5b)

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

Hmmm, maybe thats how banana bread got started!!!
Mixing the nuts with bananas!!!

Osage City, KS(Zone 5b)

TropicMan - LOL we could have alot of fun with this - mixing nuts and nannas - my DH who doesn't share our passion for gardening has described me as both on more than one occasion - in fact just yesterday after I asked him to carry one of the nanas downstairs......

Bushland, TX(Zone 6a)

My wife feels the same way!!!! LOL!
Altho she is nutty about crafts and quilting, and the house looks like Hobby Lobby and Michaels stores!!! LOL!
