Just a few October pics!

North Saanich, Canada

Just thought I'd better share a few pictures I took this week. Yesterday was a beautiful day here. Fortunately, my brugs are all still doing wonderfully with lots of blooms still to come. So this weather has been great for them.

Large brugs in the background. Quail on the road. We looked out the other day, and there were about 12 quail just skittering around the yard. Unbelievable how fast they can move.

I moved WHISKERS in the house last week. There were blooms coming and I wanted to experience my first yellow brug.

More blooming. When I came downstairs this morning, it was like the kitchen was full of flowers. Beautiful brug smell.

Ginny, I try to leave mine out as long as possible, then they go into the house. We have another smaller house on our property and the main floor is empty right now. It isn't heated, but is fine for the brugs. Whenever we decide to do something with the house, I will be in serious need of a greenhouse. We even talked about it just a few weeks ago. Space is certainly a problem for you where it gets very cold in the winter.

My fuschia baskets are still doing pretty good, considering the amount of rain we've had.

Still lots more blooms to come.

Had to throw this in. Took this in a yard outside Edmonton in August when we were there for a wedding. I love this picture.

That's all folks!!!! I must get a picture of my coral bark maple. The leaves are turning and it looks beautiful. The trees everywhere are starting to look beautiful, with some of the maples turning a wonderful red already.
Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!

Glenda they are great pics. Better get those ;ics before the forcast winds and rains hit! it's goign to be ugly for the next few days.

North Saanich, Canada

Linda, yes I hear it is going to be ugly out!!!!! That's why I have Whiskers in the house! Thank you so much for her(or is it him???) The smell is heavenly. I am just outside getting another cement cast leaf done. Have done two large elephant ears and they turned out great! I guess I'll just keep going until there are no more leaves. Hubby says that is going to be my legacy! Cement leaves everywhere!

PS: Cooper looks lovely!! Look forward to seeing him soon.

We woke up to high winds and rain up Island. Feels like November.

North Saanich, Canada

Not too much wind here yet, but the rain has started!

(Zone 7b)

Raining so hard here today, the dog wouldn't go off the covered back steps to greet my husband home from work. I'm not ready for winter yet, maybe if we all concentrate really really hard, we can push the clouds off the island, and get the sun back?

Great pictures, Glenda!

Well today is like Spring. It's beautiful out there except the leaves are the wrong colour. I'll enjoy every minute of it because it won't last too long.

Gorgeous pic brug crazy!!!!! It's not bad here too. I have just put my pond to bed for the winter, and pulled out dead petunias, etc.
Because I havent' looked on the other side of Valleysunshine brug, when I was out today, well darn it, there is a bloom on the other side, away from the house!!!!
You just never know what is happening!!!

Okay....I give up....you guys just don't play fair....posting all those gorgeous brug pics all the time! LOL I am now officially hooked on brugs. I have been given the opportunity to get a new start in the spring from another of our members and have accepted. I will now gracefully concede defeat and forget everything I've ever said about not ever having anything (except dahlias - gotta have dahlias) in my gardens that can't take our winters :-)

Beautiful pictures Glenda, your brugs are gorgeous. The weather on Wednesday was horrible here in Nanaimo, cold wet and windy. Just the sort of day to stay inside. I had been camping in Goldstream Park for Tuesday which was a great day to be out hiking in the woods, beautiful fall color, and peaceful. I still haven't moved in any of my plants yet, next week I will be off for two days and those are my designated yard days, so hopefully the weather will cooperate.Do you over winter your fuschia?I also want to plant a few more spring bulbs.
