Alpine plant meeting in Victoria

St. John's, NL(Zone 5b)

Hi everyone,
I thought I'd mention that the upcoming Winter Study Weekend of the North American Rock Garden Society is being held in Sydney, BC on March 3-5, 2006. You do not have to be a member of the North American or Victoria Rock garden Societies to attend. They have some great speakers lined up (and not restricted to just alpines!) and there will be workshops and plant sales (the most important part!). I will be attending...most of these meetings are held in the States and its a pain trying to get plants home....but in BC, no problems! Below is a link to their site for more info. I figured with so many BC members on DG you might be interested in attending such an event in your own back yard. I would be free on the evening of Thursday (March 2) or Sunday (March 5) if you wanted a mini RU...or maybe just getting to meet some of you over dinner. Food for thought.

Hi Todd

Great news that you're coming up west. Are you speaking?

I'm game for either a mini RU, or just dinner - meet & greet.

I only wish I were a speaker! The trip is purely for pleasure (and a welcome get away from our long dreary winter). I certainly would not mind getting together for a dinner with some DG menbers if anyone is up to it. It would have to be a Thursday or Sunday evening as the rest of the time is taken up with the conference...and maybe somewhere reasonably close to Sydney.

Todd, looks great. Don't miss Sharron Millsteins photography workshop/lecture. I took a 4 day photography workshop from her and Paddy Wales a few years ago on Hornby Island. They are wonderful photographers and great people.

Hopefully some of us can get together.

Okay, who else besides Todd is thinking of going??? Seems pretty silly of me not to go when it is almost right in my own backyard! Jeanne, the photography workshop sounds great. I could probably use that!

Sounds interesting, Todd. You are right--great speakers. I am a member of the Alpine Club of BC, I shall see if they mention it tonight. Love Dan Hinkley and woodlanders. Not that I am a Rock Garden Hound, just that I live on a rock. Jeanne--the Waddling Dog--Oscar and Clancy??

Cartmanii Joe, the trailing clematis...the man's name is Joe Cartman..............some good speakers lined up there!!!!!!!! Elaine

The only difference between Sunrise and I is that while she lives on a small rock, I'm on a large one! LOL!
