Twice in one monthplantlet on flower stalk!? =0

I've grown and collected AV's for years now.......this is new to me! Not only did I find a plantlet/sucker growing on 'Milky Way' trail's flower stem, but when I worked with removing suckers off 'Sheer Romance,' found TWO on flower stalks there too! And, on the latter, I'm talking multiple leaves, 2 rows and a crown plantlets!! Never seen such a thing..............

I've read about propogating from a flower stem if the stem had secondary leaves. The article said it was very difficult, but it could be done. Well, I guess you did it! Congratulations!!!!

Nanna & MsC---this is even weirder than prop'ing from a stem......I didn't do ANYthing! =0 Just found my AV's blooming, and ON the attached stalk, with flower, was a plantlet growing IN PLACE OF leaves. I mean, crown and everything! I've left 'Milky Way' as is (potted up 'Sheer Romance''s sucker/plantlets). I'll take pics of the attached, and fully developed unattached plantlets for you...........so strange.

Yes, it is different looking isn't it. One of the big AV's I bought had 2 of them growing on the flower stem.
I have left them there becuase they say they will grow faster... I thought maybe it would make it look like a huge trailer...lol.
It is just another fascinating way AV's are propagated and one of the best plants to own.

Love to see your pics.

Ok........so I er, hum, totally FORGOT about posting pics! Here is a photo of 'Milky Way''s three tiny plantlets growing ON a bloom stalk. The bloom has since died, so I pinched it........this is SO much like an episcia stolon arming out............

That's great ! You should get some nice babies from them !
Chimeras have to be grown by sucker or bloom stalk. My one Chimera is a trailer " I Like that" as it is crowning, si=uckering away making new babies. I will let them get real big ( which won't be long they are growing fast ) then take them off for new plants ! Many of the flower stalks don't just have leaves on the they have babies growing on them. I have lots of flowers and several new babies growing this way also :)) Being a Chimera, a Vintage trailing one, hard to get I am so happy. I already have two plants prmoised for the Sping !
