Strange but beautiful

This is one of the most different but one of the prettiest brugs I have seen. The color in the picture is a little dark, but she is actually a rich cream color. The petals are thick and waxy. I don't know if she is completely open? Or what she will end up looking like. This is my Shredded White. The other one shown the other day was much whiter than mine. I don't know the reason for the different color.

Is this a unnamed cross?

Hi Karrie, No, it is named. Shredded White. That is why she is like that. She doesn't come out of a tube like the other brugs. I bought her off of ebay last fall. One of the guys had a picture of his Shredded White next to his Culebra the other day to show the difference in the 2. His was all white tho.

So how are you doing Karrie? I see your addy is Clayton. Isn't that up by Marysville? I have heard of it but just can't place it. Hope everything is well with you.

Jeanette,

I must have misread something there!

Yes - I'm up in Clayton, WA - up hwy 395. There are most likely shorcuts from here to Ione (I've heard it all from these towns people) but I can't venture there alone - I am just learning the side roads. I am 5 miles north of Deer Park. I have learned the short cut to Suncrest and Tum Tum (where my parents live). They are all gravel roads and can I kick up some dust - even trying to be nice. My allergy to dust is in full swing now and I had to switch prescriptions because of it. Dirt Road = Dust = Karrie coughing with a tickle in her throat all night long.

Pretty. I wish mine had bloomed. The bugs hit mine to hard. By the time it came back from the bugs it was to late in the year. I like things that are different.

so interesting looking!

Very pretty Jeanette. The shredded sure is a unique one. I like how they bloom or split out of the side of the calyx. I believe the cool weather does play a part in their coloring. Much more green seems to remain in the blooms.
I took this picture this morning and it has a lot more white in it. Notice the one in the back with more green. One nice thing with the cool weather the blooms last a lot longer. WELL at least until it rains..LOL
So Happy you got yours to bloom for you!!!

Kin yours is gorgeous!! So now in looking at it, mine has a ways to go. It doesn't even have a stem yet. From the main stalk. But I gave her some fertilizer, Epsom Salts, Hydrogen Peroxide and Bug killer yesterday so that should give her a jump start to open all of the rest of those buds you see up there. I counted 7 coming out the top above that blossom.

She is so exciting to watch!!

Fantastic!!
I hope they all bloom for you.
I have not fertilized any of my brugs since mid september. I hope this nice weather holds out for the remainder of the month... So we can see a lot more blooms.

I fertilized the few that I have left outside because they are budded and I hope to bring them in before they freeze. Even though we have had temps at night in the 20s, I have not had any frost. Must be because of no humidity. That shows that the brugs can take the cold but not the frost. We are back up into the 30s at night now so maybe I will get some more blooms.

I also like the way they are fragrant during the day, as well.

WOW, Jeanette, congrats re the pic of the day and your beautiful Shreadded, you and Kin have the touch!! Yours seems to have three blossoms coming out of the same calyx. I hope mine turns out as pretty, I don't care what color, I love all of them, they are so unusual...well, actually, I just hope mine blooms!!

Thanks Sherry. I thought it was prtty cool too. Yours will bloom. That was a pretty good sucker. I was so sorry that it took that plant so long to kick in because it has 7 at last count, buds above that blossom. It has been open for almost a week now and looking grreat. I find it does like the cool weather though.
