Well, wouldn't you know it? I miscalculated by a few (okay, more like exactly 48) tulip bulbs, and I have too many for my spot. Should I plant them in the orphan bed for now, or is there some way to store without planting until I can prepare another bed for them next year? Can I get away with planting them in pots? Boy, do I feel stupid!!

I will take them off your hands for you. That will solve the problem. They will grow real good hear. LOL

Everything I've read says you need to put them in the ground or you'll lose them. Better the orphan bed than allowing them to dry out and die.

Another idea would be to pot them up, chill them and then bring them out for an early spring. This pretty much depends on the type of tulip you have but there are a lot of websites that explain the procedure.

Good luck.

Plant 'em in pots, they'll do fine. I do it every year. Here's one from last year.
