New from coastal Carolina

Southport, NC(Zone 7b)

I am from Southport, NC at the mouth of the Cape Fear River ( remember the movie?). Southport is about halfway between Wilmington, NC ( Michael Jordan's home town) and Myrtle Beach, SC. Tropical Storm Tammy just passed thru here and we've had about 4" of rain in the past 2 days. My yard is flooded. I waded thru knee deep water to get to the mailbox this morning. Somehow the newpaper arrived during the night! I lost a bunch of plants when Hurricane Ophelia passed through two weeks ago and I am afraid another batch of plants drowned in this latest flood.

I love the idea of plant exchanges and round robins. In fact I found that I have just the kind of heirloom begonia that some one in the house plants forum is looking for but I don't know how to get the person's mailing address so that I can send it to her. Also any hints about sending plants and seeds in the mail would be appreciated.

Here's a photo of a wonderful cactus that blooms for me each summer. My mother dug it up from her backyard in Tucson.

WElcome to THE Garden...you will find it is very addictive and will let things go in order to spend more time here...but pass it off as "educational endeavor". LOL

As to the addresses....we have an address exchange that you can get into only IF you sign up to list your address there...go to the Home Page and click on EXTRAS...then you will see lots of stuff there...click on Address Exchange...Jo

A big welcome to you KangySue from the north-central part of our great state!! You'll love it here at Dave's! Our family has vacationed down at Long Beach for many years. We always take a day and spend in Southport....it's such a pretty little town! I'm sorry for your plant loss due to the storms and will be glad to help if I can.
