So sad, between a freak storm we had last week with 50 mph winds, my new battle with broadmites, and the weather dropping from 70 overnight last night to 48 tonight, I guess this is it,lol.
I have learned very much this year from everyone who posts, those who have shared so selflessly with me and with others, and I just wanted to say thank you.
Because of you, I look forward to next year already.
My last blooms for the season
They are so pretty. Hooray for you. It took forever for me to get my first buds.
Jackie, your brug is so pretty and I hate it that your season is over. I have a bit of 'extended growing season guilt'. OTOH, I've been very short of blooms all season and plagued by so many problems, chemical, defoliation, wind, drenching rain, hail, drought, and, worst of all, swarming thrips which destroyed all of the first round of fall flushes. But, I got good advice and, despite 25 - 30 mph winds for the past two days, I didn't lose any buds and just about all brugs are covered in buds, and, assuming we don't get an early freeze, I think I might have some pretty flushes. I think we all want a part of everyone else's zone and growing season. Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could dial up our preference and click a remote and have the perfect conditions. I'll continue to dream. Happy weekend!!!
Beautiful, Doris.
Sherry, they usually have the most blooms or buds on them about the time we have to take them inside. I've had very few blooms this year also along with many others. It hasn't been a good year for most of us.
Next year hopefully will be better.
Thanks, Jackie and Ada!!! Actually, I thought I was the only person in the world lacking blooms this season, but, honestly, now that i think about it, I suppose it has been a weird summer. But, then I thought that last year too. Your headlight shot is nice, Jackie! I'm off to pack, we are getting up early to get the grands on a short trip to the state fair and the Razorback football game...
It's NOT a good Razorback year, but maybe with your well wishes, this game will be a winner, thanks!!! I will be shopping and dining with our daughter, not at the game, lol!!
Well done Jax!
They look beautiful. I like the color on the first one you have shown us. They look like they are dancing for you.
It's been one of those years for Brugs. I now also have many with buds hoping the weather holds out a bit more so they can bloom. Oh well there will be next year. But that seems so far away at this time.
LOL
Oh Dear I'm thinking about next year already and I don't have any of my brugs in the basement yet. LOL
Thank you, Kin. Oh, and can I say, I HATE broadmites? lol
I have been in yard dismantle denial. Hard to believe that we will have 4 feet of snow within a few months.
Gotta get busy this weekend moving and digging up, dragging, lifting and storing etc. Tried to bribe the boys (Nick & Max) into helping. They went to bed "considering" the prospect.
A mother can dream, can't she?
Sorry, Jackie. LOL This contest has my brain in a whirl. I'm so confused and can't get any answers as of yet. Hope it isn't raining at your place like it has been here. Three to six inches of rain and it's still falling and supposed to be for several days, Maybe mine will float out and I won't have to dig them. LOL
Its OK Ada, lol, I keep reading your posts on the contest thread, and I try to think of what to say , but I am equally confused. So many terrific names have been suggested.
I have faith that you will find the perfect name for such a gorgeous brug.
But the rules, that is enough to get the head spinning. :)
I am partial to Carolina Rose, even if it is not legal.
I jotted the names down that came to mind before I posted for your contest, but a few got lost in translation. I dug the list out of the garbage, and sure enough, there it was...Carolina Rose. lol
Great minds think alike, right?

They sure do Jackie. LOL I also liked the one I mistyped "Carolina Charm". Maybe Terry can get us straight on rules for naming a Brug. I sure never thought it would be such a mess. LOL.
Carolina Charm is an excellent choice!...That name fits both the brug and the hybridizer. You are a wonderful lady, Ada.
Edited to add that we are under water too, and much colder than yesterday.
I laughed when I read your post, I'm going to feel like Moses having to part the Red Sea just to get at most of the plants in my yard.

Great pictures Jackie!! Did you ever think you would have so much fun with a plant?? LOL. Hey, all summer it is in the 40s and 50s here at night. The brugs love it. So maybe you have a bit more time to enjoy!!
Sherry, have a great time with your grandchildren. Soun s like such fun!
Nice pics, Jackie. I especially like the first one. Mine have had a frost now, but the buds will still open unless we get a killing frost or freeze. They won't look very good because the leaves are a little limp and discolored, but maybe you will still see a lot of bloom yet. Hope so.
Thanks so much, Kell, and Shirley!
Yes, this is a magnificent obsession, lol. For example,
I am just now learning how much fun it is to be outside at 6:30 am, spraying mites in my jammies. Neighbors love it too, lol!
My current flowers are hanging on even with the cooler temps, and there are more good size buds on the way. I would be so happy to see a few more blooms before we have a frost! I appreciate the positive brug vibes!
