And a Happy Thanksgiving to everyone here!

Some years ago one of my neighbors (I have some really great ones!) started a 'Lost Souls' Thanksgiving dinner for a group of us who didn't have family in town or for whatever reason were not going to have a turkey dinner. The host does a turkey and we all bring whatever, sort of a planned pot luck, preferably something we have made or that comes from our garden. I usually do coleslaw, turnips and potatos(with roasted garlic - not from my garden)No cabbages or turnips this year (Fancy ate all the cabbages silly girl!) and I seeded the turnips too late to get a decent crop so I am making a corn salad instead.

The last of the roses - just might come out fully this wekend!

It's a lovely weekend here; and it will not be difficult at all to find things for which to be thankful. Everyone have a safe and warm and full thanksgiving.

A very hapy thanksgiving to all. We are having people over for lunch. The turkey has been cooking slowly in the oven since 3AM (a big bird). The house smell wonderful.

Fancyvan, I really like your idea of the "Lost Soul" dinner. My wife and I have been doing roughly the same thing at Valentine's day for 4 years now. We had 12 people around the table last February. We laughed, ate and drank (in moderation) all evening. Dishes are loaded into the dishwasher as we go along and picking up always wait until the next day in this house. People come first, the rest can wait

Even though Gail and I have been happily married for 28 years, we noticed there were many people around us with nothing better to do on Valentine's day than watch TV alone. We decided to change that. The Valentine's day supper here is now part of the traditions born in this house.

Take care and again, a very happy Thanksgiving to you all.
Sylvain.

Mmmm turkey aroma to sleep to.

We won't eat ours until tomorrow - date chosen by DD who was facing the possibility of having MIL cook a turkey at their house today. We will all go to DD's house for Christmas because of 3 1/2 yr old twins and I really wanted to cook a turkey at Thanksgiving.

Looks like another nice garening day today and I've been thankful to have had an opportunity to get out into the garden and start cleaning stuff out. Still have too much dirt piled up in my new garden and will try top dressing most of the others.

Happy Thanksgiving again.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

Turkey's in the oven, turkey neck in the pot, turnips cookin', salads and shrimp cocktail have been made.

Fancyvan and Sylvain my Grandmother had the same tradition here but at Christmas. She usually had 3 or 4 extra people at her table that couldn't make it home to their family.

Happy Thanksgiving All!! You are so right in that we have an abundance to be thankful for. To live here, to have our loved ones around us, to have food for the table and the privilege to be able to share with those who might not otherwise enjoy.
