Fall Trading Lists

Gulfport, MS(Zone 8a)

I'm curious about all the mentions i've heard about fall trading lists.
I have brugs that i will be cutting back in the fall that i would love to trade for other brugs, daylilys or gingers.
any hints or suggestions?

hint:
on the right, there is a menu, you can click on 'your' trade lists, and add your wants and what you have to trade. You might mention that these aren't ready yet.

MsJen,
Contact me when you want to trade brugs. If all my cuttings root, I'll have about 60 plants , that is 12 new ones.

For the ignorant in life. What is a BRUG? It is not listed in Daves Garden listings that I can find. I have numerous daylilies and iris I would be happy to trade. Also seeds from geraniums, columbine, and dianthus.

LOL!!! It's so funny when someone new first asks, cause you know what the reaction is going to be. The same one I had, and still have every time I see a picture!!!

Lol, you people and your pictures...need I remind you all that its the fragrance I care most about on a Brugmansia. The Jamaican yellow is a pretty flower, but I wouldn't take one if it was given to me for free unless I smelled it first. In fact, that was how I started my interest in Brugmansia. I was at a nursery with a few in bloom and my reaction was -wow-strange-but not worth growing as I thought they would be too hard to grow being that tropical looking. Besides, any flower that beautiful would sure be growing everywhere if people knew about it and it was easy. Well one flower given to me for free and the first bloom had me asking where the price list was. Brugmansia release the majority of their fragrance at night so seeing one during the day does not do them justice. Besides that, the larger ones don't fully open except at night. I much prefer the smaller petite Brugmansia hybrids. I do keep a few just for the smell though that have flowers larger than I like them. Personally, I don't think there is much point to flower that is big enough to stick ones head inside-go for the smaller hybrids. Of course the versicolor hybrids are longer than they are wide so again-not my cup of tea if its a pure versicolor...rambling again....

ramble on, I learn something new everytime:)

Karma-you don't grow Hemerocallis as well do you? I have a ziplock bag full of crosses I have made this year sitting in the fridge for the past 2 weeks. Almost time to plant them. Think someone else has dibbs on some of them though. Ahh, maybe next year ayy.

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

Brugmmansia - you are soo funny, I especially liked your remark about sticking one's head into the flower - conjured up quite the vision.
Karma, I bet your brugs are adorable!!

The fragrance is what makes many an otherwise not so pretty a flower worth keeping. From what I can gather these are zone 8-10 type plants. Aside from a greenhouse -whichin' I ain't got - is there any way to enjoy brugs in the frozen hinterlands of Illinois? Are there varieties which will survive as houseplants? Or am I just out of luck?
