Neen ID for new Hoya

Tremont, IL(Zone 5b)

A friend of mine, Tonya, is in the process of converting her plant room into a guest room, & she gave me this hoya. I thought it was like my whte edged carnosa, but I discoverd today, while getting it ready to bring into the house that it has a couple rosy shaded leaves & red/rose bloom.
Does anyone know what this hoya may be?

Hmmmm. The Krimson Princess or the Krimson Queen (I always get them confused...one has white/cream/pink on the margins, the other is reversed) gets that rosy color....and the blooms will be pink... Edited to say it IS H. carnosa...one of the above cultivars.

You all have to realize that even though I've had a hoya for many years, I'm new to them, in that I didn't realize there were so many different ones.
AlohyHoya, If I understand you correctly, this new one I have is H. carnosa/Krimson Princess or Krimson Queen?

so there are lots of H. carnosa but with different names depending on their leaf coloring & flowers. The 1st H. carnosa I got has whitish blooms, where this one is dark ruby.

Please excuse my ignorance, I'm just trying to learn here.

That one looks like a Krinkle 8 cultivar (carnosa) with all those dimples!

In this thread both Princess and Queen were described: http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/546725/

Jan, at one point, years ago, it was quite simple. there was H. carnosa and its' cultivars (i.e. H. carnosa cv. Krimson Princess, etc.). They were all extremely popular, and still are. Over the years many of the different clones have lost their "identifying characteristics" a bit...leaves become more dimpled/less dimpled, more color/less color etc. My theory (for what it is worth) is that the plants have been grown in so many different environments, sports taken from them to propagate, seedling grown and sold as the "real one" that the whole species of carnosa and all its' cultivars can NOT be exactly like the description. Your plant may have some dimples...but that can be an abnormality, not a 'Krinkle 8' cultivar. Even the green leaf form of H. carnosa has a number of different forms....

Colors of flowers can vary from very light pink to deep pink. The only one with white flowers that I know about is H. motoskei (the true carnosa) and H. fungii (a relative of H. carnosa...same family). But with a diffrent environment and nutritional program this could change, too.
