Apple Kuchen

Bloomingdale, OH(Zone 6a)

8 1/2 C flour seperated
3 pkg dry yeast in 1/2 C lukewarm water
2 C milk, scalded and cooled
4 eggs, beaten
3/4 cup lard
3/4 C sugar
Sliced Apples
cinnamon-sugar
margarine dots

Put 2 cups flour in bowl, add yeast and milk. Mix until all is mixed and let set until small bubbles appear. Then add beaten eggs, sugar and lard, mix again. Add aprox 6 1/2 cups of flour to stiffen. Let Rise. When doubled in bulk, take dough to about the size of a baseball. Grease bottom of pie tin. Roll out dough to fit in bottom of pie tin aprox 1/4" thick. Arrange sliced apples in a circle around outside of dough. Let rise again to about 2" thick, then push the apples down in the dough. Sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar and dot with margarine. bake about 20 mins at 350* until nice and brown around edges. Cool and slice into 10-12.
