checking in

New Iberia, LA

I am at my step fathers and I wanted to post just how much I appreciate everyones calls.I have been to the house and started picking up plants .it's amazing how stuff disapears. We are awaiting the insurance and we now have moal growing on the walls and ceiling. I fear the worst. We are also trying to get a camper from FEMA so we can return to our home and start the task of getting rid of things.I am so grateful to have my family and I am doing better. It was so sureal for the first couple of days and now that it is sinking in I am better. it's a funny thing to think in your mind that everything is okay and then when you see it it's unbelievable,My worst time is when my son who is 22 and handicapped asks me when can we go home? I will keep in touch threw this computer,Coming out once a week and will let you guys know whats going on. Thank you all!!

Hello Diane, thanks for taking the time to check in with us! Hang in there, unfortunately I have no words that can comfort your losses. It is so unimagineable to me. What a brave woman you are. Know that you are constantly in all of our thoughts! Hopefully there is a beautiful rainbow at the end of these dark clouds!

Dianne...thanks for checking in and knowing how much we care and worry about you!!! If there is anything you need to clean mold off of, and not just throw away, try Physan. It is great and non-toxic... Clorox is the chemical of choice for mold but it is SO toxic. Queen of Mold here in wet Hawaii!!!

Hi Dianne,
It is so good to see you back on line. I sure enjoyed talking with you last night. You have been through so much and it doesn't end. Just know you have a friend here that would like to help in any way. Take care,,,,

It is wonderful to see you posting, Dianne. I am thankful that you are able to access the internet and check in with us. Please know you are in our daily thoughts and prayers.

I work for the Division of Rehabilitation Services and wanted to pass along information that came across my desk in the event it may be helpful. The document states that FEMA offers a full range of federal disaster relief to survivors with a disability and it should be made clear that a person has a disability or chronic health needs. The numbers listed for more information are as follows: 1-800-621-3362 or 1-800-462-7585. Furthermore, survivors can register on line at: www.fema.gov. I wanted to pass the info along in the event there may be some additional aid to assist you in caring for your child.

I'm also glad to see you posting, and can only say I'm so incredibly sorry for what's happened.

If you're needing anything that some of us can provide, please let us know.

Wishing you the best.
