I have two passiflora, and I'm not sure if I can leave them outside or not. One is Passiflora caerulea 'Clear Sky'. I know 'Clear Sky' has to be overwintered inside, but I really don't know how to take care of them inside. I'll have to prune them back as they've grown to be extemely long (they just laugh at their trellises). I sure would appreciate it if someone would give me advice about pruning, overwinter temperature and watering, etc.
The pic below is the one I need ID'd.
Thanks so much!
Amy
ID and overwintering advice, please
Hello Amy nice picture,
I dont know much about clear sky but my Passiflora caerulea stays in the ground and comes back in the spring like my incarnata.
I would be willing to bet that clear sky would do the same.
Has it sent out runners from being in the ground? if it has i think it will over winter without any problems in the ground.
I have a few that will have to be taken in for the winter but i keep them in a warm sunny room so they will do well.
I dont give them much water in the winter,.. they just dont need it unless i put them under the HPS and MH lights.
I think the picture of the passi you are looking for an id on is, Passiflora belotii.
but there are many more people on here that know tons more about the passis than i do.
I hope this helps in some way.

Looks like Belotti to me also. Yes, if it gets below 50, bring it in - that's what happened to my big Belotti - got too cold and died.
Thank you both so much for the information! I have both of these in pots, so I don't know if they would send out runners or not. How much can I prune them? They have covered the side of a 12 foot long shed/outbuilding, so there's no way I'll have room for them inside if I don't prune them back. How much light do they need inside? I don't have a lot of rooms in the house that get good sunlight actually into the room, so I'm going to have to be very creative this winter with where I put everything!
What are HPS and MH lights? I'm assuming they're some type of grow-lights, but I don't know what that stands for.
Thanks again!
Amy
