Niceville, FL(Zone 8b)

It gets full sun most of the day. Late afternoon shade.

I have several that do well - I thought. They are about 18" and do bloom often.

Recently however, I heard about a woman that has one that is about 4' tall and covered with blooms. Wish I knew what she is feeding that monster.

Nashville, TN(Zone 6b)

They are such beautiful flowers.

Mine came to me from my grandmother. It is about 3 foot tall and has bloomed all summer. It is in total shade, maybe dappled morning sun. I feed with miracle grow bloom booster. I may have some cuttings available, I don't remember if I pruned it or not, I just put it away for the winter. If anyone is interested I will check tomorrow.

Where did you get yours, Sue?

Hmmm, too long ago to remember. Either HD, Target or Wally World. Maybe

This is the second time around this year for us as well. This plant turns out to be much hardier than expected. It handled temps down into the teens last winter without skipping a beat.

Really pretty. I have never tried leaving mine out over winter. It does bloom most of the winter in the G H. We sometimes get down below "0" here.

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

I have a few of these.. I've rooted several from cuttings. I got the parent plant at HD 2 years ago, and have been blessed with at least 4 full sets of blooms this year alone. I keep it in dappled shade, we don't have hard freezes here, so it was fine outside last winter.
Even the cuttings in water want to bloom!
I'm new here, the blooms were done by the time I found this site, and realized I should have saved the images somewhere other than my mind! LOL

Laurens, SC(Zone 8a)

drdon--very nice!! If you ever do cuttings, think of me please?!! hehehe I have one pink plant but it looks pitiful compared to yours!! Only flowered one time this year. Maybe where I had it is to blame or not enough water or something. Any tips for how you get yours to be so lush and gorgeous--not to mention reblooming??!! Thanks!!

I just received a very small plant. I can't wait for it to grow and bloom.

Orlando, FL

I have some of these and the guy that puts out a column here calls them Flame plants and mine blooms nearly all yr round. I have one at the end of the screened in pool and its about 3ft but the snails love it too and try to eat all the leaves up. Have another few out in the yard under the trees and they bloom good too. Have dug up near the parent plants for some with a few roots so they are easy to grow. Just break off the old flowers and new ones come in. mine is a pink like you guys posted. would love one of the red ones. Fran

I don't recall seeing a name for these - other than the flame plant. I really like them
Rj I see in the title Justicia
