I took this pic of my Explorer rose de Montarville this afternoon- it has about a dozen buds and it is October 3. The temp drops to slightly below freezing every night but days vary from rainy to sunny. Maybe they will bloom? Wait and see!

I went out and cut the few roses and buds I had left. Figured I may as well enjoy them inside. Looks like we'll get a taste of winter tomorrow. Even threw a De Montarville to float in the birdbath, just outside my window.
It bloomed! A touch of frost almost every night now so I have been covering it up. This pic taken about an hour ago.

That's imressive. Looks like this will be a primo rose for our climates. Suppose next year will tell the real story for me, as mine is still settling in.
