We have had this one for many years, but never knew the name. Can anyone help?

ID needed.
Not 100% certain but, I think it's Mrs Jimmy Spangler or Mrs Jimmy Springer? I can't remember the exact name but, it's something like that.
is like Florida Sunset.
More checking.
thanks.
... and being a bit academic, according to the official register http://www.australianhibiscus.com/Database/register/boot.htm the correct name is Jimmie Spangler.

Carlos
I agree. It is submitted.
Jimmie Spangler is a double "Orange-Tan (26-B) Shading To Dark Red (46-A)." http://dstartz.com/Spangler.htm
I'm not sure why there is no 'Mrs. Jimmy Spangler' listed on any of the Hibiscus societiy websites, but on the first page of a Google search I can find 2 nurseries selling a 'Mrs. Jimmy Spangler' hibiscus and the Missouri Botanical Garden claiming to grow it.

Did you look at the Plant files, Mrs. Jimmy Spangler?
dstartz, you're right about the register information. Indeed, there's no a Mrs Jimmy (Jimmie) Spangler registered.
I've seen that there's one Mrs Helen Spangler registered as single "yellow blending into bright red". I've transfered the question to other hibiscus forums. Let will see if someone has an answer.

Carlos
Well, we like it no matter what it's called. I find it strange also, but then there are so many.

I picked up a couple of these this summer at HD. They were labled "Mrs. J. Spangler", "J" not "Jimmy". Would this make it easier to locate? BTW The "red" is more of a very dark pink rather than red to my eye. It has become my favorite single.
Also, I just recently picked up a small one at HD with two tags in the pot. One was labeled "Jimmy Springer" and the other tag I forget but not "Mrs. J. Spangler. I can't remember right now the color but not the dual color of MJS. I'll have to look up Jimmy S to see its color. geekgranny
Hi:
In another hibiscus forum, a well known member, expert on tropical hibiscus since many years ago (he has this web page http://home.att.net/~SHA-IV/ althought not updated since long time ago), answered the question I forwarded about the info in the AmHS database.
He told that that info is incorrect and the plant we're talking about is Mrs Jimmie Spangler.
Regards
Carlos
Thanks for that information.
