Things that make ya go hmmmm

Prescott, AZ

My sister and I received an order from Carol last week. We had each ordered H. verticillata. I took the smalller of the two, one of them being very large and the other large. I took the smaller of the two because I already have some of this Hoya. The next day after receiving the plant she shows up at my house with this beautiful Hoya with 32 (to be exact), penuncles on it. And says here you can have this, I don't want to be in charge of this many blooms.... :0 What I'm saying as my jaw drops to the floor, I thought that was the hole point. I don't know, and she sends me blonde jokes.. Thought you all would enjoy this story. Will send pictures when he blooms, it will be breath taking I'm sure. Oh yes he's official name is Buddy. ;)

Did ya give her a really big hug? What a great sister! No way would I have given you a plant with 32 peduncles on it. I would have called to gloat. LOL....rotten huh?

When Tami told me this I ROTFLMAO. Why doesn't she grow Rhipalis or something! Send her blond jokes to me....I love them!

I'm with YOU, Nightbloomer54 ~~ I would have called my sister up and GLOATED in a big way....no WAY would I give her the biggest/best plant. At least not if it was a HOYA. =0)
.......and that's exactly what I did with my new h. Nummulariodes ~~ I kept the bigger plant that was in bloom and gave her the smaller plant, RIGHT SIS?

Right, sis...but the one you DID give me has about A TON of penuncles ready to bloom on it! !t WILL bloom in about a week or two!! Do I have the greatest sister, or what?!?! See folks, MY SISTER is my hoya pusher - feeding my addiction!! LOL!!! Karen

UHOH...incestuous pimping...now, that's the BEST kind!

Too funny!!! She's WAY ahead of me with plants - we have just spent the last two months building a greenhouse together - about 20 ft. by 20 ft. (um, actually, our DH's did some of the building, too... LOL). We have a variety of other plants, but are quickly focusing in on hoyas. Seems like every other hanging basket is a hoya - not that I'm complaining! Anyway, even with all the hoyas in the greenhouse, she hasn't brought out half of hers!! She'll deny it, but she IS my hoya pusher!!! Karen

Speaking of insectous pimping, my mom was just visiting from Florida. I sent her home with about 10 cuttings to start her out. I also took her onto DG to show her how I spent my days. She's thinking of joining. I really hope she does so that we can have even more hoyas, two collecting is definitely better than one!
I get to go visit her over the holidays, so I'll make sure she joins the website. I can't imagine how well they will be doing in a few months. Rooted and growing outside!! Ah......paradise!
