Orange Candleflower

I need help planting the Orange Candleflower I bought from Michigan Bulb... which end is up?... one end has thorn like things sticking out of it... not sure if they are the roots or shoots

These are shoots not roots, these are waiting to grow now. Hurry up. Nice plant and you will have lovely blooms.
