Not A Cat Person??

How many of you cat people out there have converted someone? I know I've told you in previous threads of how My husband, who never was a cat person, is now a converted man. Many of you have also commented on the people you've helped see the error of thier ways, and I thought it would be interesting to hear your stories.

My husband didn't grow up in a cat family as I did. They love animals, and even had dogs, but never cats. Before marrying me, the only cats in his life were ferals and strays, who would never let him close enough to pet them. Because of this, he thought that cats were not loving enough to make good pets.

Then I came along....

I don't ever remember a time when my family didn't have at least one or two cats. I've always loved them. Knowing this, he was more than willing to get me a couple of kittens from my aunt's farm cats. That's when he started seeing them differently. He realized that they were sweet, and could be quite loving, but it seemed to always be on thier terms. I was happy just watching them sleep in that upside-down head position cats are so prone to sleep in. I would always point at them, and say "Oh, look, baby. Isn't Annie cute?" He'd agree with me, but never really comment that much. He'd tell me that yes, he loved the cats, but I just needed to accept that he just "wasn't a cat person" the way I am.

Then we adopted Merlin...

You know how cats will sometimes "choose" someone? The house can be full of people who want to pet and hold the kitty, but for some reason, the cat wants the attention of the person sitting there, ignoring it completely. Well, Merlin Chose my husband. He loves to sleep in the bed, on my husband's side, and follow him into the restroom in the mornings to "help" him get ready for work. He even lets him brush him, which he HATES.

Well, I know you can all guess what happened. My husband is now a cat person. I tease him all the time about how I converted him, but I guess I should give Merlin credit for that.

So tell me....How many of you have converted someone who claims that they are "just not a cat person?"
