Hello everyone I am new to the forum.
Recently I've been increasing the number of plants in my house, including ferns, orchids, violets, etc. I've noticed that some plants have their leaves yellow and lose, quickly dropping if i touch the plant. This is happening mostly with a Madagascar Jasmine, a thick-leave ficus and a Schefflera. I'm trying to not overwater them but I am not 100% sure if I am being successful in this attempt.
This week I found out that the pH of my tap water is extremely high, 9.3. I suspect the plants are suffering because of this, not so much because of possible being overwatering.
So the question is - how can i adjust the ph of the water to avoid damaging the plants? I currently filter the water through a reverse osmosis filter before I use it, but the pH is still 9.3 after filtering.
Thanks a bunch! :)
Water pH extremely high: 9.3
That is high ph!! Growing hydroponically I use this stuff to lower ph (link below). I would think you couldn add it to your watering can -maybe you could email one of the hydro places and ask. Most that I've had contact with are very helpful.
