Some pics of my front and back yard

nanaimo, Canada(Zone 7b)

I have taken a few pics of my front and back yard flower beds. I have lived here for two years and spent lot's of time trying to transform my yard into a tropical sort of look. We ripped out lots of junipers to make room for these bigger leafed plants. Here is some pics of my front yard

I have a rock garden area, there are chicks and hens, sedums, and semps. I brought some real tufa rock from the interior of B.C., managed to find a skull to give it some character. If it wasn't so damp here I'd like to grow some cacti.

I have a perennial bed I have been working on,it was badly overgrown and weedy, and has been a real project over the last couple of years. It has this arbor with a honey suckle and silver lace vine on it. I made a brightly painted bare foot stepping stone path for it.

Impressive! Do you realize how much pain you are inflicting upon the other Canadian gardeners outside coastal BC? Banana's no less!

Your gardens look wonderful Cindy.

Todd musa bajoo is hardy here but the other bananas we have to bring in for the winter.

I really feel blessed living here on the island. I gardened lots in Winnipeg, and then Calgary before moving here. Calgary with the chinooks and short growing season can be a challenge. It often seemed when I tried to plant more exotic things they would just get going and then the season would be over. I was amazed how long I could garden the first year we were here.I work quite a bit, and my yard is really my retreat from the world. My goal for next summer is to get a sprinkler sysytem installed and irrigation for all the pots to cut down on some of my work.If any one has any recomendations about sprinklers let me know.

Lovely Cindy - my garden is now mostly inside. A few more to rescue as they say this moisture will be of the white type tonite and tomorrow. (with Winnipeg looking for a high of 24 tomorrow; what's up with that??)

What a wonderful garden - I think we have a very talented member here - has anyone seen her posting in the hypertufa forum ? I think we need a visit to this garden, Linda, Glenda LOL.

I would be happy to have visitors to my garden, of course as it is the end of the season it isn't looking as wonderful as it might other times of the year. I do a lot of " garden art" . I enjoy creating unique items for my yard.I will try and take a few more pics of some other areas and post them on my days off.
