'Orange King' finally blooms this year

Crumpler, WV

I have been waiting for what seems like forever for this brug to bloom this year. So far the color is not as dark as last year, but it still looks good. And the fragrance is wonderful!!! I was hoping to release it this year, but since it is so late in the growing season I am going to trail it for another year before making the final decision.

This first picture is when it opened last night.

It is so late in the season David, you can't trust the colors. I had a yellow of mine that usually is orange, bloom pale yellow. All my seedlings that are blooming are light too. You just can't trust it. I bet next summer it is real dark.

It sure is pretty!

Kell's right - we've seen her photos from one year to another, and saw big changes. I think she's pretty as she is!

Beautiful David!! With the fragrance you describe, it would not matter, to me, what her color was. What zone are you in - do you think she would like the hot/humid south???

Pretty color David! :) What are your temps and humidity right now? My OK flowers are still yellow.

Sherry, the best that I can describe the scent is, a very sweet citrus scent.

Vicki, sorry to hear your blooms are still yellow. Here are a couple of links to show what our weather has been like and what the ten day forecast is. And how would you describe the fragrance of OK?

Here is how OK looked this morning, lucky to even have the bloom still on it. The winds took it down last night. Going have to do something to fix that, there are loads of buds still to open.

What a pretty morning shot! Looks like the cooler it gets the more orange it turns for sure! Just the opposite of some of the others like CG and DS.
We are still hot here. 90 days and mid 70 nights. Tons of humidity. By the end of October we should have cooler and less humid weather. Keeping my fingers crossed that it will bloom orange for me all winter! :)
OK smells good is all I know as far as scent. But not real strong.

David,
Love the orange, just fantastic!!!
Good luck to you, Vicki.
