Good afternoon afternoon. Taking a short break. Great to see all the new posters on this forum. Kathleen, Mitzi is adorable. I love the bc's that have brown in them.

It was raining this a.m. - very much needed and very timely for us. It has been the 3rd driest September on record. We (I should say Joe and 4 helpers) finished putting 400 small bales of prairie hay in the barn last night. We were hoping for a nice rain to give our last cutting of alfalfa a boost before we cut and bale it. We will put that up in small bales also. I did chores last night and found a ewe that wasn't eating and foaming at the mouth. We gave her anitbiotics. She wasn't sneezing or coughing - hard to tell with sheep.

Corn and soybean harvest seems to be in full swing. Hope everyone stays safe and drives safely. People need to be reminded that the big equipment moves slow and can't stop on a dime and have blind spots. Last week a UPS driver was killed when he slamed into the back of a turning farm truck. Last year our intern's grandfather was killed when a truck slammed into the back of his tractor as he was pulling into a field.

Our friend and her National Guard unit came home yesterday from her year long deployment in Iraq. She has a few ear issues as her truck was hit with an IED earlier this year.

Better get back to work. Everyone take care!
