There was a bit of frost this morning when I went out with the dogs and I thought these two plants looked particularly pretty - sort of like an encrusted saxifraga.
This is a creeping veronica.

Frosty plants
Lovely pictures,
I think Wpg is going to have frost tonight so I must finish all my plants today, beautiful out today so off to the gardens I go this afternoon,
Wilma
Very nice pictures Carol. I must admit though that when it happens here I have a hard time seeing through the fact that there's actually F*R*O*S*T to see the beauty of it for at least a couple of weeks (NOT a winter lover). --Ginny
Carol, we had our first true hard frost last night too. Joelle
That top photo, with the white edges, is that natural or was that the frost? It makes a lovely edge to the leaves.
I'm not ready for fall, it sure gets damp at night here.
Jeanne that weather you had today, we'll get tomorrow i think that's the forcast. ;(
No frost here yet but last night it dropped to 3.5 C so it's getting close. Mind you, we have had lots of wind...our sign of winters approach. The birch on the hillsides are just getting a hint of yellow and our burning bushes are starting to spark.
MG99 the white edging is all frost.

Nice pictures Carol. While we don't have frost we are certainly getting buckets of rain today after months of none. Luckily I spent yesterday morning bringing in my alocasias and xanthosomas. They'd be drowning today.
No watering the brugs today. lol
Yesterday, before the monsoons started, I dragged the brugs up to the bedroom deck, those blooming under cover and I must say it is lovely to wake up to trumpets interspersed with plumbago. On the conservatory deck, I have the hibiscus standards, ready to come inside, under cover with tibouchina, curcuma, etc. So the living room is enveloped in bloom too. Ears and succulents under cover on guest room deck. The Dining deck has the white flore pleno brug and the potted woodlanders. So, although I hate winter as well Jeanne, and would be happy to be comatose from Halloween til Valentine's Day--at least some colour and some work started.
Lovely pictures Carol. Too bad it had to be frost that gave them that pretty variegation.
very hard frost here last night. the persian shield, salpiglossis and cobaea all bought it. That heaven for mums and brassica. On the positive side the carrots will be much sweeter and the potato skins will set and can be dug.
I thought for sure we'd get it last night, but I didn't bother covering anything. Tired of doing that. Doesn't look like we'll get frost tonight either. Maybe we'll just go straight into winter.
Did not know that about the potato skins Lynn. Never have them that long.
I still have carrots, beets and potatoes and one little turnip in the garden - I leave them as long as possble, especially the potatos as they will keep longer.
We have not had a real killing frost yet but light frost prettty well every night. It has been snowing ightly all day but not enought to stick on the ground.
I picked the last of my artichokes yesterday. They have been yummy. More pictures I need to post when I get roundtuit.
