This is already posted on the sticky thread....but to give it more importance.... TA DAH
Dianne and her husband were evacuated by boat during the storm...the lake just moved into the town. She has lost EVERYthing and currently staying in a small apt. above her Mother in Laws house. She and family are OK...but devastated! Gosh...everyone of those evacuees/victims should get some good counselling...what they are going thru!!! Dianne had an incredible collection of hoyas she was SO proud of...and she grew plants for another woman who sold them using her proceeds to help needy animals. Dianne has a heart of gold... She is a cardiac diabetic and her husband does not have a strong heart and is almost broken.
She would love to hear from all of us...her cell phone is 337 519 0506. She can receive mail at 1612 Center St., New Iberia, LA 70560.
I will take collection of $$ to my PayPal account (carolnoel2000@hotmail.com is the account address), and then get a Gift Certificate at WalMart (which she said was her choice)...so that they can start to recover with essentials they don't have until the Insurance money comes in. Susan, Nightbloomer, also taking donation...SUSANS' PAYPAL ADDRESS IS sjmccarty@houston.rr.com. WE WILL CLOSE THIS OFF ON FRIDAY SO DIANNE CAN GET IT ON MONDAY.
Needless to say, there are no judgements here as to donations...whoever can, Can....whoever can't, bless you.
I will call again tomorrow and see if there is anything she would like to receive...hoyas are probably the last thing on her mind now...but I hope Heather starts that thread where people can start growing out hoyas for her....???? I will go thru my records to see what she had ordered from me which will give us a place to start!!!! I am sure duplicates of them would be welcome until she can get up and running again....which may be a long time.
OK...anything I forgot?
Hurricane Buddy, Carol

Let's Help Dianne Landry
EDITED for a major change: Do NOT PP your donations to me...send them to Susan (Nightrunner) who is going to get the Gift Certificate and card there and probably drive it up to Dianne this weekend. Gosh, seems I am confusing everyone because I don't have Susans PP account....but I trust she will tack it on here directly....won't you Susan?????
Let's make it happen!!!

Now I am finally on the right thread...whew.......this is the only one I am posting to from now on. I get confused easily.
sjmccarty@houston.rr.com is the address for my PayPal account....
I offered to drive to Louisiana this weekend but Dianne says she's fine. I will take donations through Friday evening. I can get the card in the mail to her on Saturday and she will have it Monday morning.....
Thanks everyone!
Susan

Hi Nan, I just checked and the money is in my PayPal account. Thank you very much! I know Dianne will appreciate it.
Susan
I will be delighted to donate some money.
I realize Dianne may not be thinking about starting a new collection right now, but, I would really like to get some plants going for her that would be ready when she is.
Carol, please do let us know what you will be starting for her and I would also be grateful for any thoughts on plants I could get started for her. It would be great to be able to send her growing plants when she is ready.
Mel
Susan, sending you contributions from Awanda, MsKitty, Cicada and myself....transferring to your paypal.
I would think that if we grow just about anything out over the winter....she maybe ready in the spring. Right now her house is full of fish and live snakes...1000lbs. of shrimp they had in the freezer and WATER. She is so busy thinking about her husband and two handicapped sons that thinking about herself/plants is beyond her now....I am just gonna grow 'em. I know that the variegated H. kerrii was popular in her area as I sent her everything I had and she was able to sell it immediately. Her nursery supports her whole family.
Yes...thanks to everyone.
Carol
Just sent you some money Susan. I will start a new thread for plants now!
Mel and Heather, thank you very much for your contribution to Dianne. The funds are showing in my PayPal.
Carol, nothing yet on yours but I'm sure it will be there soon.
It should be there now.
Carol, not yet. Maybe it has something to do with the time difference. Might have to check your pending transaction in your PayPal account.
Mine was confirmed....will send you a copy....with transaction #. Sent $175.00.
If the money is getting transfered through paypal by e-check
that can take a couple of days to post and clear.
Any more contributions? Susan is going to do the Certificate thing Sat. - Get 'em in while they're hot!!!
Carol
Thanks to everyone who contributed to the fund for Dianne. I am going to transfer the funds from PayPal to my bank account. Through your support we have a whopping $410.00 with which I will purchase a WalMart gift card, and a nice greeting card with everyone's names signed to mail it in. It takes a few days for the funds to transfer from PayPal to a bank account and as soon as it does I will get it in the mail to her.Tomorrow I will call and advise her of the bounty she's about to recieve.
Thank you so very much!
Susan
That is awesome Susan! Thanks so much for coordinating this effort.
Nice work everyone. Good to know there are such wonderful people out there!
Heather
Thanks for the organizing Susan!
I wanted to give everyone an update on Dianne. I just spoke to her to verify the address I had and to let her know WalMart gift cards would be on the way to her soon. Told her to start looking for them at the end of the week. It takes a few days for the funds to transfer from PayPal to my bank account. The good thing is that I work for the bank and I will know the minute the funds have cleared.
She's sounds great and says things are looking up. The water is out of the house but she can't go back just yet as there are snakes and even a baby alligator lurking around the yard. Her husband found 20 or so hoya up against the back fence and luckily they still had soil around the roots. He's trying to save them for her. She did mention there was some oily muck on them and hopes the hosing her husband gave them will help.
There's a chance the insurance adjuster will not be there for another month so she's hoping FEMA or the insurance company will pull a trailer or RV onto the lot in the interim. She really wants to be back home. Naturally the insurance company is trying to, pardon me, screw the Louisiana homeowners and claim the damage is due to the hurricane and not the flood. That's corporate America for you. I think I heard her say that State Farm was either going to pay or the state of Louisian would run them out of there.
Take care and sweet dreams everyone! You can all sleep well tonight knowing you don't have alligators in the back yard. Can you imagine?
And once again. Thank you all very much for the contributions!
Susan
Beautiful!
I'm proud to be a part of such a group....only wish I could do more.
I want to thank you too, Susan and Carol, for taking on this responsibility.
I love this idea of contributing directly to a family in need, rather than to an organization.
Does anyone know if any of them have immediate needs of clothing or small household items, etc..?
I'm like someone else mentioned in another thread....don't know Dianne at all and wouldn't feel comfortable calling her.
I know how you feel, Nan. It is sometimes awkward. You all know me...Strangers are just friends I haven't met yet... I know she would be thrilled to talk to any of us...someone NOT in LA, NOT flooded out, NOT with snakes and 'gaters all over the place...breaths of fresh air.
I am really proud to know all of us, too!!!
I LOVE it! You be good people, Susan...da kine sistah - amakai wahine b'long the aina!
Thanks for everything YOU have done....
Carol
Thanks for doing all of this Susan!
Ann
Thanks Susan! You make a great guardian angel! It's nice to know I have people like you all folks on my side!
Heather
Great job, Susan.
Shirley
