I just received some rhizomes of this ginger (plus a nasty fire ant bite) from my neighbor. He does not know what it is (maybe because he speaks little english and I speak little spanish has something to do with it).
I managed to find this flower to try to help ID it.
Does anyone know what ginger it might be?
Looks like a flower from the pink form (Aileen McDonald I think it is called) of Alpinia purpurata, though perhaps one that didn't form completely. It looks quite a bit stunted.
