I have lots of brugs in gallon pots that were smushed under tree debris from Katrina that I need to find homes for, but I certainly can't take the time to ship them now. They are free to anybody who can make it to Mandeville, Louisiana and pick them up. They will be composted if I cannot find homes as both of my greenhouses were destroyed and I will have no place to overwinter them. I do not have a list of what they are exactly, but there are various ones in there. They are kinda beat up but still alive. I also am going to try to find homes for cuttings from all of my seedlings. My seedling area was destroyed by 3 trees and the seedlings are still buried up under those trees, but look like they are still alive and I think the tags are still in most of the pots. Some of them had already bloomed and I had posted pics on here of them, some hadn't bloomed yet but were promising crosses, so I don't want to compost yet. These will be mailed out as large cuttings, probably 2 of each, to people to evaluate, not for trading. That probably won't happen for a while yet, cause I still gotta get them out from underneath trees.
The gallon sized are ready to go now.
This pic is where my seedlings used to be.
Free brugs, come and get them
Wow, that last picture sure is surreal. So sorry for your loss and the devastation you suffered. Hope it's not too long until you can resume your gardening and a somewhat normal life after all this.
So sorry for your Damage to your plants, greenhouse and house... may you recoup everything... blessings.. prayers..

No doubt you are a little overwhelmed with the damage and all that needs to be done. It is sad that so many have been affected by this hurricane.
My heart breaks for you.
Thinking so much of all that had hurricane damage, wish I could help you. Puts a whole new outlook on life and what's important.
Hope you can get some sort of order back into your life Mary, each day should see improvement. Hang in there.
Oh Mary, the destruction is terrible for you, your greenhouses, that is just awful, I will pray that no more of those nasty hurricane's go anywhere near you!
I am so sorry for your loss and the situation that you are in.
Maybe somebody in the area would be willing to even take care of your brugs for a while so You can have them back eventually ? or maybe someone would take one for you,one for them....work out a trade like that.
I certainly would help, unfortunately I am much too far.
Take care,
Brigitte
Mary, that is just awful! I'm so sorry for what you have been through. Mother nature can sure do some beautiful things, but when she is in a mood, she sure is hateful! I hope you can find someone to help you get things back together.
Oh Mary, My heart breaks for you. I wish I was closer and could help you clean up and repair.
Betty
Mary, My heart breaks for all the victims of the disaster of Katrina and Rita. I'm glad you posted these photos as so many people in other parts of the country don't really realize what devastation these is - I was there and saw. The more people realize how bad it all is, maybe it will encourage them to make more contributions to organizations like the Red Cross.
When you get back on your feet, I'm sure everyone in this forum will be glad to send you new "babies" of all varieties. We'll do it!
Good luck to you and try not to be too depressed. It's hard, I know, but I'll just bet you're strong like the brugs and you'll come back better than ever!
Barbara
Breaks my heart to think of what all the people down south have lost. Wish we were all closer to help you clean up. I hope you can find someone close to help take care of your plants.
Pam
Mary my prayers go out to you, I wish I could just come and get those Brugs and keep them in a safe place for you, but afraid I am too far away but maybe someone will see your post and help you out so that you could get your brugs back when you are ready. I am sure it would be to much of a chore to take time to do mailings but hopefully when you are ready there will be cuttins available for you.
Doris
Mary I sent you a dmail about a friend of mine not on these forums, but he lives in Mandeville about 6 miles from you, perhaps he can help you out until you are ready to get them back :)
Laurrie
Mary, my heart goes out to you. Thank goodness the damage was to things, though, and not to you and yours. Hope your recovery process is quick and smooth. I only have two brugs as yet, but when you get back on your feet and ready to go again, I'd be glad to send you cuttings. Wish I could send you muscles and a strong back instead.
Barb
Mary, I'm so sorry for your loss. I do hope you have help to clean up.
I remember some of your new seedlings, they held so much promise. I wish I could come help you clear the downed trees and save the babies but it's at least a 12 hr drive for me. I know everyone nearby has had damage too, this is just so unbelievable.
I'm starting to see more and more from Rita too, did it affect you?
Mary
My prayers are with you..I feel so bad for all the people affectted by katrina and rita..wish I was closer to help you with the clean-up
Elva

Such damage. It is so sad. So many people so adversely affected. I sure hope there will be no more hurricanes.
Mary, through this whole hurricane mess I have related to what people are going through..we had a fire in our home and it is nothing compared to what you and others are going through...please know my heart goes out to you and if I could I would be down there with you giving you big hugs and support.....please keep us posted on how things go ...Judy
Mary, I am so sorry for your loss. Praying that things start getting better. Cindy
Mary, It is sad to see you go through this. My mother had great damage last year from the 4 hurricanes in central FL, but she eventually got through it and is as close to normal as she will ever be (with a few less shade trees) . Repairs and contractors was a huge ordeal because the need was so great. My prayers are with you and all the others who lost so much. We have 2 more months of threat. Pray, pray, pray! tt
Mary, I am so sorry to see your troubles!! Hopefully, your friends will adopt your babies and raise one of the offspring for you!! God bless you and help you to recover from this terrible time. May you never have a storm like this again!!
Bonnie
Mary, This is so sad. When you get back on your feet again, and get a greenhouse back up. I'll be glad to send you cuttings of named brugs . Just let us know when your ready for them. Those hurricanes are just too much for a person to have to keep enduring. I'm so glad I don't live in Florida any more.

Mary, I am so sorry for your loss. You and your family, as well as all the others affected by this horrid situation, are in my prayers.
When you are ready for more Brugs, just let me know. I don't have many exotics, but what I have you are welcome to. I have a few other types of plants I can share also.
God bless,
Margo
Mary, I am still praying for ya. I truly wish I could come and help!
God Bless you and the help you have coming!!
Love Ya!
Mary, my heart goes out to you and others who were in the path of these storms. I hope you have some help to get things fixed up.
Mary,
I am sorry for your loses. I wish I were closer to help. When you are ready, I would be glad to send some cuttings, too.
Let me say that I almost know what you are going through. I live on the east coast about 30 miles from the ocean and always fear the worst during hurricane season. So far, we haven't been hit with anything worse than category 3 and that is pretty bad, but to have to deal with what you guys went through-well- I doubt if I could deal with it. Hope everything comes together for you soon and know that we all wish you well.
When things get tough - you know the rest and sound like one
Update before you compost meanwhile I'll contact an old buddy in Texas.
Reb
He and his crew are too busy to help out, sorry.
Reb
I am so sad to see what has happened to your beautiful plants

I have faith in you, you'll recover and come back stronger than before
