100% unscathed from Rita, well almost

East Texas, United States(Zone 8a)

DH and I heard this loud sound last night but decided we were dreaming. This morning I went to feed to pets and found this. Still, we got off easy compared to the folks in Beaumont, Pt Arthur, etc. This is the barn where we keep mower, tools, etc. used to be a horse barn built by the original house owner, but it's our shed. Had Rita followed its original path, I guess we would have no shed today.

Nice horse barn, looks like it took a blow from the tree but I am sure it is atleast salvageable, lucky you! Could have been much worse. My Houston area refugees just left for home this morning and they were luck as well with little to no damage. Tanarae

yep. have been told by insurance not to expect adjuster for 2 weeks. This will be easy to repair. As you look at the pic, tree is on the right side. What fell was just ONE branch.

Wow you were lucky the rest of the tree didn't come down with it then were'nt ya! 2 weeks is probly a conservative estimate, I bet they have thier hands full. LOL Tanarae

Oh Nery, I'm so glad you weren't standing under this when it happened!

Nery, I'm glad you and your house weren't hit. I hope your insurance company is easy to deal with.

thanks V. We have USAA and they have always been good to work with. Once hubby cleared the branch, it already looks a lot better. the main thing in the roof holes. I have some favorite tropicals in the area and they did not even get touched. This %^^*() heat is the one thing wreaking havoc with my plants. Well, they say two more days and it's cool weather. I am counting the minutes. LOL

Hi Nery! So glad the shed is the only thing damaged by the storm. Nice shed, by the way. The heat has been terrible again today and I am so looking forward to tomorrow!

If I wasn't such a wimp nowadays (unable to stay up late) I would sit outside all night to feel the front come through. You know, give it a proper Texas welcome. lol!

Oh, vossner! That's just sickening.......and, like you said, it could have been worse. It's amazing--the hurricane pictures are all over the tube/papers, etc., but when you see a photo of what belongs to someone you know? Well, makes it sickening. And, I've never even laid eyes on you. =)

Glad that was it for you.
