Anyone use Rapid Rooters to root cuttings? I used them for seeds and didn't like them but want to see how they do on rooting brug cuttings. They are so small. Do you put a few on a bigger cutting? Do you put them in a pot with dirt around them and put the cutting in the middle of the Rapid Rooter? Do you bag them?
THANKS
I need advice and info ...... anyone know?
Answer # 2, I get all my tags and seed baggies from Earth Star Inc. http://app.infopia.com/Shop/Control/fp/user/Shop/Control/fp/cat/11939/SFV/13129
I use these tubes for pollen storage which go in the storage racks on the next page and placed in the freezer.

Question #1:
I haven't used them for brugs as they are SOOOO small, but I had pretty good luck using them for rooting tropical hibiscus cuttings.
Earthlink seems a pretty good tip!! Thanks! Calif_Sue!! Bonnie
I have ordered vinyl slip on labels from Earth Star for several years. I find that they have excellent service and are the cheapest that I have found.
I have never tried the Rapid Rooters so I can't help with that.
Kell, mydaughter just sent me some of those labels and I love them. If you can't find them I will ask her where she got them. She sent for them somewhere. Very pliable and rough on one side so the ink from the sharpees stay on.

Kell send JLD_II a dmail, he uses them and swears by them. I do have some Hibiscus cuttings starting in them now. I still can't say anything about them, but Jeff uses them and really likes them.

I came across JLD's thread on Rapid Rooters

Hi Kell. Pot_em_up - George uses the Rapid Rooters and is pleased with them. I don't know whether he has ever used them with Brug cuttings though. You are right, they seem too small for that. Maybe they have Super Size Rapid Rooters?
George?!?, where are you?
I would love supersized ones. LOL. I have put a few in them and they seem to be doing OK. No roots yet.
THANKS Sue. I am so impressed with that daylily site. It really is a cult isn't it, daylily growing! I am going to order from there. I loved the link too. I have to agree with JLD, I have found everything I ever wanted and didn't even know it, at the hydroponics store here. The trouble is everything there is so expenxsive. So many fun things to try but they all cost $50 or more a quart. I am going ot go by today in fact. Much better than any nursery for products.
Very complicated pollen storage. I just use glassine envelopes. How many daylilies do you collect pollen from? How do you store it long term? How long is it good for?
THANKS
Last year I collected from maybe 20-30, this year I did only about 10 as I wasn't into it. I store the pollen in the freezer and I understand that it is good for several years but I have only used the current years as I use the newest intros.
