What's the most uncommon hoya that has bloomed for you?

Trelleborg, Sweden

Thought this would bring out some photos of the most uncommon ones... You don't have to pick just one if you have more than one! What's uncommon and common is up to each of us to decide.

Who will post the first photo? I guess I will. It's my waymaniae that just opened the flowers. I'll post a new photo when they are done opening. It is 10 o'clock at night so the light wasn't the best for photographing...

Hi
My most uncommon is my H. ciliata. I am very proud to get flower in this Hoya, not once but 3 times. More than 100 flowers the same year. It is very difficult to get eriostemma in bloom in Sweden. Take a look at www.sitascorner.se/ciliata you can see from buds to flowers.
Moore to come........

Betsy, there are quite a few hoyas with yellow flowers; diptera, dimorpha, montana, cumingiana, erythrina, limoniaca (sort of), some pottsii, some incrassata, picta and then some. I know because I try to find them all! I love the yellow flowers!

Beautiful photos, you two!!!

I have ONE bud about to open on H. patella (pink form). I guess the new H. sp. Kunming Kina would be one...already posted. DH took a better photo and I will post that tomorrow.

Okay, here is the waymaniae in daylight and fully opened. They have a very vague fresh smell if I stick my nose in them.

What a beauty!!
Im so happy for my cutting of your waymaniae, Christina!!!

My waymaniae is the slowest growing hoya I own. I got a small plant from Mel when I first started in hoyas a couple of years ago, and it has only grown 3 leaves. Two of those I used to make a cutting, and that has not grown much either. The original plant used to be red, but it has since gone back to greenish.
I find the leaves on that one quite unique. They are hard and almost seem fake, like some cycad leaves.
I have never had a bloom, but the peduncle is supposed to be WAY long before the bloom. How long is the one on that bloom, Christina?

I also have a H.waymaniae I purchased from Carol and it has 27 leaves ...grows great.

Well, I don't think it was the fault of the source, but rather my lack of great cultural techniques. I have recently changed potting mixes and things are starting to grow better, so I still have hope for it to take off one of these days. Ha.
I thought maybe it was just a slow growing type, like H. kanyakumariana (which also has those hard feeling leaves).

My waymaniae grows well too. This spring I even had to give it a bigger support.

The peduncle is (I just measured it) 5 inches long. Here it is!

Marcy...put your H. waymaniae in more light and the leaves will go red/orange again. I like to think of it as the Halloween Hoya with that pumpkin colored flower and the wierd leaves.....

Don't grow it too wet....the fleshy stems tend to rot on me when I leave it out in the rain.
