Plumiedelphia, PA(Zone 7a)

Hi Folks!
I have my final flush from Frosty Pink now and upon inspection noticed her leaves and blossoms are much smaller.
The blossoms have also gone SHREDDED!!
Is this a common Phenomenom?
I am thriled! I was going to give her away, .... NOT ANYMORE!!! :P ... Heh.....

Well, isn't that strange. All the flowers like that? Idid notice that oneother one in that picture is like that. Maybe something is upinside the bloom causing some damage, like a worm cutting it or something, but That wouldn't be the case if all of them are like that. Are there just a few of them like that? That might help those to answer your questions if you could tell us if their all like that or just a few , etc... I've not had this happen to my frosty yet. though I've had some blooms open white then change to pink, which is uncommon in frosty pink. Growing conditions have so much to do with the color, conditions of the bloom, well, just everything about the flower depends on it's growing conditions.

hopefully someone can come along and help you out more.

Don't panic, It happens once in a while ;-)

Tulsa, OK(Zone 6b)

It usually seems to happen when it's really hot, it's happened to a couple of mine.

It has finnaly dropped to the mid 80s from mid to upper 90s all summer.
I dont think its the heat. Were cooling off now finaly.
This occured on about 25 % of the blooms and all on the same stalk.
The other stalk is unaffected. LOL! Go figure!!
Im not upset, I think its really neat. ;)
I dont think its bugs as it isnt damged looking,
I have seen shredded brugs and this is what they look like.
I thought wind damage at first, but it isnt damage. ;)

A friend from another forum reports that her Jamaican Yellow has been doing this all sumer long!! 8D

I agree. I think it looks neat, lol...

This is just a guess, and I'm much more familiar with vines, than brugmansias, but...

I've seen morning glories open too fast, and rip like this. The petals stick together, and if they open to quickly, they rip.

Maybe the same thing is happening to your brug?

I preffer to beieve it is exhibiting a recessive gene. ;)
I know certain plants will show characteristics when stressed that otherwise remain hidden,
Such as a color break in a plumeria from a mosaic virus or other virus.
They dont show until the plant is stressed.
They are remakable too. 8D

OK! lol...I'll go with "recessive gene", lol...
Whatever the cause, it DOES look neat like that...

It does look really nice, and I have quite a few that are doing that.

I must say that I do think it is from the excessive heat and humidity we have been having.

I am still hopeful, that is not the case!

Here is a pic of my Frosty x Lexy seedling.
