This plant I bought from Logees as H. fungii. Not... has not bloomed for me yet, I'm thinking next year for sure.
Need a couple of ID's please.
Hey Tami, the last one could be a H. nicholsoniae. It is definitely a potsii. Nicholsoniae is a name for the cultivar? I'm not sure that is the right wording. For the other two, no idea, maybe the second one is nummeraloides. The first one looks a lot like the one I have that is labeled fungii. Experts will answer shortly, I'm just trying to tide you over! Ha ha!
Heather
Hi Heather,
Thanks for the help, LOL I was waitting patiently.... Nope It's not nummularoides, I have one of those, that is ID properly, bloom and all. Leaves are much different, not as thick. But I don't think it is diptera either. Hmmm. I'll just sit here and tap my fingers and read back post, keep my fingers crossed that someone can ID.
Tami
Dear Tami ----I am not sure on the ID of your Hoyas but I do think you should be passing on cuts to your oldest sister that is always sending you plants.......Seems you have been holding out on HER...............SANDYC
Sandy,
I bought you one of those the same time I got mine. The first one. It has set 5 spurs this year. A total of 7 now. Taking them forever to put on a bloom. But if my elenors (sp) ever gets here.......
HI Tammy....
My 2cents...with the caveat that since they aren't in bloom I am very possibly wrong....
#1 looks like H. australis ssp. tenuipes....
#2 haven't a clue
#3 H. 'nicholsonii' is not a correct name...it is a H. pottsii known as H. nicholsonii. Put it in a lot of light and the leaves should turn RED. If they don't...back to the drawing board!!! It still could be a H. pottsii, tho'. I will send you something to compare when I send your box....There are a gazillion H. pottsii - and I love them all!!! 4 wheel drive hoyas...just my cup of tea!!
Carol
#2 does not look like either of the 2 clones I have of it...gotta get the flowers!! Edited to add does not look like either of the 2 clones I have of H. diptera....

That no 1 looks like my fungii: http://www.myhoyas.com/Hoya%20fungii%20min.htm
No 2: are the leaves fuzzy? Then it could be that DS-70. H. diptera has green stems: http://www.myhoyas.com/Hoya%20diptera%20min.htm
No 3 could be merillii, pentaphlebia or pottsii.
These are my guesses. Now, get them to bloom so we know what they are!
Christina
Christina....you could be right!!! The venation certainly looks like fungii (I didn't enlarge the close up of the leaf so I didn't see it)...yes...flowas will tell!!! I don't think #2 is DS-70 which on my plant have no specks...and #3 could also possibly be H. purpureo fusca or H. cinnamomifolia ....
See what leaves do to us!!!!
We have Farmers Markets here all over the place, & I have seen various garden plants and some orchids, etc, but I have NEVER seen a hoya there. DRAT! There must be a special vendor that goes to yours. Does the person you get them from ever give a clue as to what they are, or don't they know? Ha.
Sandyc you have a D-Mail.
Oh thanks ladies!! Now I am confused. There are different H. fungii then? My fungii is def. the fungii in your picture Christina. Can't wait for it to bloom, she has developed alot of bloom spurs this year. :) #2 yes leaves are fuzzy and everyone of them curve under. The leaves do have specks. It's for sure not DS-70. #3 :0 I don't know he is kinda scruffy.. Will pot him up in better soil and give him some sun. I'll take another photo when he looks better.
I have only found three Hoyas at the farmers market. The one last year was so full of mealies (kentiana). Ewww left that one there. They had them marked with plant tags from Kartuz, in California. In general these people sale cactus. But hey if they wanna throw in some Hoyas now and then, it makes my day.
Thanks again for all your help. Thanks Carol, would love to compare with another pottsii, the one I had befor that we talked about on the phone, did not look like this one at all. Oh shoot could it be incurvula? (sp) because the way the leaves curl? Hmmm better go search.
Thanks again.
Another name for H. fungii is H. carnosa from Vietnam (not a correct name....but nonetheless....). It does belong to the H. carnosa bunch...so has probably morphed, sported changed a lot....besides, nutrition and care can change a lot of things...the flowers will tell if you want to look at their private parts!!!! H. fungii can grow like H. carnosa and take cooler temps and less light...you sure have a beautiful clone of it!!! Doesn't look at all like my leaf!
