They're gorgeous Roger. Thanks for sharing your pictures.
Sandy
Amazing pictures, Roger! You've got a wonderful collection going. That Englewood is stunning, and I love Fascination too.
Your unknown reminds me a lot of Kukiat's Duke. I forget now where Kukiat said he got his Duke, but it does look a little different than my Duke which I got from Florida Colors. We had a conversation about whether they were the same or not, and I'm not sure what we decided. Here is a picture of Kukiat's Duke, taken in Thailand:
Roger, those are gorgeous pictures. Englewood is stunning. You have a large collection of Plumeria.
Clare, I got my Duke from MPG. It is very similar to that posted in PSA. Jennifer (ownwer of MPG) just confirmed that it is Duke. Or..there are several versions of Duke out there?!!
Kukiat
Id settle for any of those 'Versions'! ;)
Beautiful Plumie for sure!
Hi Kukiat! I am indeed wondering if there are a couple versions of Duke. I've mostly seen your Duke look like other Dukes; it's my Duke, which I got from Florida Colors, which looks different from other Dukes I've seen, but mine bloomed in late fall last year so perhaps that played a factor in the bloom color.
Thanks, Michael! Here's my Duke from FC:
Kukiat, I forgot to mention that Phet Ratda has an inflo on it right now! I am very excited about this. Also, many of the Thai varieties you sent me have come back from Luc and are now grafted. I am very excited about this too! They have the most honored position in my garden:-)
Since everyone is showing their Duke this is mine from Jim Little not that it is the true one just showing it.
Michael I did see your post and you are very lucky 8 months that Great I had and I say had Seedling thatt were 2 years old that had still not bloomed they went out with the green trash I don't really have room for seedlings except for a few I use for Grafting and some that could prove to be good ones someday maybe if the bloom. You should have told me about Kauka I have lots rooted now.
Roger
I wasnt worried about it. Losing them every now and then seems to be a part of it all.
It probably rotted due to my overbearing dodding LOL!!
I have learned to root much better now.
I appreciate your generosity Roger. ;)
I never refuse an offer but I always try to aquire rooted if I have a choice.
My rooting games have cost me some $$ dangit LOL!!
I have lost some exceptional plumies. Ill replace them when the $$ is rolling again.
I found another 8 month old seedling with an inflo today! WOO-HOO!!
I believe I am looking at 4 more seedling inflos possible by next month.
This one started infloing at 7 months and 2 weeks.
Well, Roger, I think your unknown, Kukiat's Duke, and your Duke look fairly alike to me. The petals of the flowers look very similar and the coloring seems to be the same, and there is a red star in the yellow middle. The only exception is the appearance of white, but that could be due to the color fading as the flower ages. I don't know; just guessing here:-)
Just amazing, Michael! Congrats on your enormous success! I just found another inflo forming on one of my seedlings too, but mine is about a year older than yours:-) One of my seedlings bloomed, but it is not that special. Maybe it will change and be different next year. It's just a plain white with a yellow center and a light pink stripe on the back.
Clare, I am so glad that you finally got the grafted ones from Luc. If they do not make it somehow, I will surely send you more.
This is a great success, Michael. Seven to eight months is likely a record for the plumies growing in the climate in your area. It means that they kept growing even they were stored inside.
Roger, I agree with Clare. Your and my Duke look alike. The unknown may be Duke, too.
Kukiat
Storage in my house during the winter = lots of artificial lighting and heat.
I make them think they are in Fla. ;)
Kukiat, you are too kind. I am very thrilled to have them and am particularly looking forward to the flowers next year. I will post pictures of every single one as they bloom for me. My favorite will undoubtedly be the Blue Violet, but Thailand Sunset and Coral Cream and the species will all be my favorites too. Siam Ruby looks great too. When it stops raining, I will post a picture of them for you to see. I am due to get some more back from Luc this week also.
Michael, I know it is not easy to do that, and the bills for electricity during the winter are very high, but it is worth all of that, I'm sure;-)
