Melba,
I do believe you changed your name and now I don't know where to find you. Remember the Sunray you gave me at the OKE Roundup?
I have had some problems with some foreign weevils since this past spring, although they like some other plants better, they did spend a little time chewing on my brugs. Sunray seemed to suffer the most damage. The weevils only eat the leaves on most.
Any way I've been waiting for months for Sunray to recover and having found I must move again I decided to take some cuttings of what was left of the branches.
The entire plant was only about 3 feet tall with the main trunk and "Y" branches. One branch of the Y seemed to be drying out from the top down. I cut both of the "y"'s off, then started clipping from the top of each. I was going to make several cuttings to root. 70% of those two branches were hollow. I was able to take 3 small cuttings on what was left.
The main trunk is still in the ground and looks healthy. I don't believe it was the weevils that did that. They don't really attack the stems and branches.
Do you have any idea what happened here and am I smart or not to taking clippings to start new trees?

Melba? Sunray question
Hey Molly,I have no idea what happened to your "Sunray". I didn't have any problems with mine in Florida. Can you believe that I didn't bring a pot of "Sunray" with me to Ga?I I had a certificate from Fl. AG to bring 180 pots of my plants but had room for only 35 ! I had to leave my prize "Kalancoe" too! I have been sick every time I think of all the plants that I had to leave!
Maybe someone else can help you with this problem.
I hope your move goes better than mine. It's been a nightmare here! I will sure miss all of you at the RU!
Cheers, Melba
Thanks Melba. I just wondered if you had seen or heard of this type of thing before.
Certainly I have nothing to lose with the 3 cuttings I have trying to root now.
