I went out a bit ago and took a picture of the base of my red palm to inquire here about propagation.
Instead much to my surprise I saw this in the pic and went back for a closer look.
Is this a seed pod? The palm is about 3.5' tall. I looked and my 2nd red and did not see anything.
EVERY opinion would be appreciated.
Sealing Wax Palm, Lipstick Palm (aka Red Palm) seed pod?
looks like a flower... must be a happy palm
you are so lucky to be able to have this beautiful palm. even in the Keys, i couldnt grow it. they have to have absolute warmth. debi
I have a ± 6 year old in Ft. Lauderdale that is doing fair- not thriving by any means but it is growing. We built a specific area for it before purchasing (these things are pricey!) that is very sheltered from winter winds. One of the keys is lots and lots of water.
Both of our red palms stay pretty much continuely moist.
We just got them in the ground last month so it will be interesting how much they grow in a years time.
Another bonus is that we are just starting our rainy season so this will help them root faster.
