It happened last night...................

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Yes finally we had **F** in my part of the city . I hear some areas in the northern part of the city had **S** yesterday when all I had was rain. So the sweet peas - which have only been flowering a month - and the morning glories - and the zuchini (dont care!) are toast. Ah well - in Calgary a first frost on Sept 22 is not bad at all! But lots of things are still looking nice and the trees are turning gold and the shrubs are turning red and it is looking lovely. Im going to take my camera with me this afternoon when I take the dogs off leash and get some fall color shots.

Here's a taste. My Siberian Coral Dogwood.

Oh no not that "F" word....the one meaning weapons of mass destruction (LOL) I love your dogwood fancyvan. The colour of the red is awesome.

We have sure been lucky with the "cold air that drops at dawn", this year. I've covered twice, but really was only close the first night. Won't be long though.........

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

We, most likely, won't be far behind in Ottawa. First frost, usually around Thanksgiving. But if we're lucky, leaves on the trees will protect things for awhile and once we're through that first frost, we often get a few weeks of relatively mild weather.

Here's hoping.
It was so hot this past summer, that it's hard to imagine that frost will REALLY be right around the corner.
