Hi everyone, I'm looking to buy a new digital camera. I'm looking for something with at least 4megapixel and at least 6x optical zoom. I'm hoping I can spend at most $300. Anyone have any suggestions.

Heather, I bought a Kodak EasyShare CX 7430 and I'm very happy with it. It is 4 megapixel but only 3x zoom but it has a feature that lets you take closeups (macro?). I believe it was around $150-$175 so I'm guessing you could get a higher-end model with the 6x optical zoom for probably under $300. It's very easy to learn and use and I've been very happy with the photos.
I have the Canon Power Shot...excellent quality...I just haven't figured out how to use it!!! Seems easy, but I haven't read past POINT and SHOOT!!! LOL Probably never will!
Mine has 4 megapixel and it has been great ever since I bought it 2.5 years ago. It's a Samsung Digimax V4 and I'm betting it's quite cheap by now, but there are better ones out there for the same money.
I want the Canon Eos 350 D... What a dream that would be!

Christina....that is the one Bob has. He seldom lets me touch it!!! I am hoping he will take some better pictures of that H. sp. Kunming Kina when he gets back tonight....it is STILL blooming and so fragrant, even during the day!

Carol, the Canon Power shot, does it have a number to go with it?
I have the Olympus C-750 UZ. 4 mp and 10x optical zoom. The only thing I'd say I don't like about it is that it doesn't have image stabilization, which with 10x zoom would help a lot. I have a nifty wee tripod though, so that works for me. My sister fell in love with this one while she was visiting me recently so we went looking on ebay. Seems they are now going for $250-350, depending on what comes with the camera. Nothing spectacular, but here's a shot of my very first apple this season, taken today, no tweaking.
