Well today is the last full day of summer and its suppose to be 84 here in my neck of the woods and believe me Im going to be outside soaking up every second of it!!!

Here in Michigan we get to watch the colors change(lots of southerns never see this)this time of yr.
We arent showing any colors here yet, but the black walnut trees are shedding their leaves fast.
Maybe as the colors change we can post pics here!

Still green 'round our house. Although last weekend we saw some color west of here, towards Ishpeming.

yes our maple tree is turning,, I'm on real happy about that ,, but I'm canning and harvesting as many seeds as I can so I'm not hurring,, I do have to get herbs cut and dried or frozen...

The leaves are just starting here but I think they are the early trees that are doing it. I do believe we have not had enough cold weather to get good color this year. Here it is October and it is 85 degrees outside. Tomorrow it is suppose to be 65 though. Hope all of you are doing well. Here is my island garden right now.

Some of the maples are turning. I was told that sugar maples are the first to turn.

Fancee,

That is a beautiful little gardenscape you have there. I love the contrast and continuity. Any chance of getting a list of what you have in that bed?

My brother has just returned from a UP weekend color tour, concentrating mainly on the Lake Superior shoreline. He said he has never seen the colors as vivid as this year's.

the pond right off my deck is covered in yellow leaves. magical.

im here just been busy with last second winterizing and planting!!

AuGres, MI(Zone 5b)

I'm here too. I've moved to AuGres permanently. We have the city house up for sale. I've been busy packing, moving and unpacking. I still have my fall garden chores to do and it's been wet here. I hope it's dry tomorrow so I can suck up some more leaves to put on the vegetable garden spot. I haven't even pulled out my annuals yet or cut down my perennials. I'm really far behind.

heya dem--

i'm like nonmartha LOL, been trying to clear the decks and dog the hatches before snow flies. y'all know about snowflies, dontcha? they're those pesky leetle tough albino ones...that make that soft buzzing noise--"brrrrrrrrrrrr".

*chortle*

all i have left to do as of today is;
stow 1 outside pot down by the retaining wall on the pondbank
stow 2 natural log "tables" from my front porch, ditto place
drain, wrestle and coil up, tieup, and stow in the shed the 100' of community garden hoses
lockup the community garden shed
buy a shiny new snowshovel

dem leaves are really comming down here now. if the wind doesn't take care of it for me *GRIN* i'll have to rake em over the pondbank plantings and my back beds. michigan mulch i call it LOL. works GREAT and costs zero$.

I am still here too, still trying to get all my work done before winter. Tiz a lot of work getting all the garden art in, some plants cut back, the pond overwintered, and lots of mulching. I am having total knee replacement surgery the end of February so I am not sure how much I will be able to do in the spring. So I have been busy busy busy.

Lincoln Park, MI(Zone 5a)

Yes I do love daylillies..Don't have many but the ones I have I really enjoy..I see you have plenty, and your gardens are beautiful...Do you do all of that yourself? You must really be busy tending to all your plantings, because they all look like they are thriving in your care...

Yes i do it all myself. My dh does till between the daylily rows but the rest is up to me! I love it but it sure keeps you HOME weeding and watering and weeding again.

Everything is so darn soggy now from all the rain we have gotten lately and I cant get in and putz around much ;)
The winds here are really blowing everything around-I think my leaves are heading to new york! lol
