Longboat Key, FL

I live in NJ, and I'm gobbling flyboy's petunias. What am I.

(Konkrete~: Where are you when I need you?)

Sorry Brad, but I don't have Petunias. Oh wait, I do too. lol I forgot to come to the forum tho. Anyways, I think I found what it might be, and like I figured, it's just some 'ole moth.

konkrete~

Bless you.

That's the little bugger, exactly. Everything checks. They are in ceramic pots which I overwinter and re-use the loam. This year I am going to dump all the soil into the trash.

They're weird. They cause the buds to go sterile. My nuking them got a couple to shrivel up and die -- but the pots are still infested.

Again -- bless you.

Yay! Glad it was the right one and maybe I've saved a Petunia. :)

One more week and I empty the (green leaved) pots. I even think that I'll wash them out with ammonia.

Gee, they're mean little things. I was googling moths, after you suggested them, and found tobacco, but couldn't believe we'd have them in NJ. Your reference really spelled it out.

Thanks again.

Be back to you in a couple of weeks from FL

Be well.

What's the weather like up there now? It's been hot here. It was 104 on Wed, then dropped to 86 the next day. Today it should get up to 90 but we at least have some wind. You might be going back to high temps too.

Yes, but I don't mind it down there. We do have the Gulf, the Bay, the pool, and the breezes (off the water.) It's different.

We have had a darned hot summer -- but suddenly it turned this last week, Now the nights are downright chilly -- and our home was 64 .degrees inside this morning..

Be well

SOLVED.

Tobacco moth.

Did you see a moth?

I pulled out all the vegetation -- and into the trash with it. They were in two large ceramic pots -- on the patio.

Then I dug out all the soil -- and it, too, into the trash.

The pots are upside down, waiting for Jack Frost to sterilize them. But I'll wash them out again next spring, before I plant them, with something other than petunias.

So, please keep yourself available for consultation when I arrive South, mid-month.

Thanks, again.

And, be well.

You're welcome. I'll be here waiting for my next test. Have a safe trip.
