Spent the lunch hour pulling into the porch the last of the plants in the front yard (minus the pots I previously posted). Will yank those out later if it looks like I will lose them. Tropicals in back have dry pots now so will be hauling them this evening.
So how scary looking does your house get when the major haul in starts??? ;)
Chance of F*R*O*S*T this Evening.......
I saw on the news this morning that the temp where both nightowl2 and brugcrazy live was 3*C. That's too close to my home to temps like that.
I never realized how cold an asterisk could look before!
Brrrrrrrr! Please, please, don't send it this way! Our long-term forcast right now shows our lowest nighttime temp at 7 degrees C on Saturday and our lowest daytime temp at 11 next Tuesday. Other than that we're supposed to have daytime highs between 15 and 25 and nighttime lows between 10 and 14. The usual seesaw for this time of year.
Being one of the original "lazy gardeners", and having neither greenhouse nor extra indoor space, I don't do tender perennials (YET she says with a sad shake of her head - stop showing me Brugs). My scary house period starts in around March when I just can't restrain myself anymore and I have flats of seeds germinating everywhere!

Oh you said a bad word!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Just checked the forecast for Calgary and it says 0 degrees but it is fairly cloudy so should be OK at least in my part of town. Have just had a couple of nights with a touch of frost. But this year I dont have anything outside that I need to bother about - still veggies in the garden but all root veg so they can stay.
I hate to say it but if we would get a hard frost might have hopes of a nice indian summer! Shrubs and trees are turning red and gold - sure looks pretty!
This pic is a dogwood in the natural park where the dogs and I go off leash.

Oh dear Pam, that's too bad. We're enjoying absolutely lovely weather here ~ warm, sunny, with light breezes. Wonderful weather that I could go for 365 days a year. ;•)
.But I've been making my 'messes' too as Fall planting gets under way. Two more days till the Equinox.

LOLOL now you Easterners know that the West LOVES sharing (our winter misery anyways ;). If it doesn't arrive quickly enough I'd be happy to send it (no SASBE required:).
This threat unfortunately doesn't work as well with a zone 6'er. ;(
Linda it always shocks me to see zone 8 hitting fall (even if its just foreshadowing) at the same time as us. Tho the plus side is you get an exceptionally early spring.
Ginny I hope to see some pics....I can't be the only one posting a mess here! :S
Imma hoping that being in town will give us a break too fancy....the internet weather says +6C but the fellows on the radio are saying 3C but to be aware that the killer of all the lovely green stuff could also show up. Since many of the tropicals can't take lower than 5C Imma not taking chances any more. I too would be very happy tho to see a glorious warm Indian Summer that lasted til *almost Christmas.* Your colourful bush is something I hope to see lasting here for awhile.
C'mon Joan take a picture of something that's *not* gorgeous! ;)
