Meet Cleo

Decatur, IN(Zone 5a)

Well, I found myself thinking & thinking about the Persian (Cream-BiColor) cat in the ad but didn't quite have the $60 that the lady wanted for her adoption. I know it would be totally worth it since she was up to date on her shots & already spayed but I didn't have the $$. I then found another ad for another Persian (solid black, spayed/declawed female) that was being given away. I called but it didn't sound like she would fit well in our house so I had to pass on that one. I finally got the courage up to call the owner of the first Persian to ask questions. I first wanted to see if she sounded like she would be a good fit for us or not. I was also going to ask the owner if she didn't find her a home, if maybe we could work out a payment plan, etc. To make a long story short, I called and she & I talked about this cat for a long time. I asked her tons of questions & also explained what kind of cat I was hoping for. She kept asking me to go over & meet her myself so I finally did.
Yesterday, I go see her & Cleo was pretty shy. I didn't have much time to touch her etc. The lady is now getting into breeding Yorkies & with four adults & 5 puppies, the house was hectic to say the least. Before I could tell the lady my money situation she asked if I wanted to have her for FREE. She just wanted her to go to a good home & never intended to collect any money for her but stated that in her ad so she would get people that were serious about giving her cat a good home. I decided that since I don't have to worry about shots until May & she is already spayed, I'd bring her home & see if she adjusts into our home. IF she is not happy here, I will treat her as a foster & find her a good home.

Currently, Cleo is very scared. She hasn't eaten since I brought her home so that concerns me. I expected her to be shy for a few days but the not eating is getting me worried. I tried force feeding her but she refused, although she did have a few moments of bravery by coming out of the room. Icehouse attempted to play with her & rub on her but she just cowarded away. So now he's just going about his business & ignoring her. I did manage to trim some large mats off her throat/chest area that were pretty close to her skin. They were very hard to notice until I ran my hands on her. She still has a few small mats & poop stuck to her rear so I have to work on that tomorrow. Today I didn't get anywhere with that. She would not let me near her rear. Wish me luck!
