Phoenix Robelenii Seeds

Casselberry, FL(Zone 9b)

My phoenix Robelenii is setting mini dates. Let me know if you want some. I will probably put about 6 seeds per packet and will have enough for 10 packets??? SASE would be fine or trade.

Thanks, Ana

Sounds interesting - but would it grow here?

It is a cool looking plant. Would it be happy in a container? Is it easy to wake up the seeds?

According to this they stay outside only to zone 9 and above. But I have seen them in pots on patios further up north.

As for seed propagation, it says you need to germinate in vitro in gelatin, agar or other medium. I have no idea what that means.... But I did find this that says that it is really easy to do - http://www.rarepalmseeds.com/pix/PhoRoe.shtml

Thanks for the information, Ana. I don't have room in my sunroom during the winter so I will have to pass...are the dates edible?

Ana,
Sounds too interesting to pass up. Don't have much to trade now, but could surely get SASBE out right away.
