Isobella, third flush, no leaves.

Greensburg, IN(Zone 6a)

Between the bugs, and the wind she has lost almost all her leaves but it hasn't stopped her from throwing out the most beautiful blooms, and such a lovely PINK

SEEDPODS--in IN???? Mine Brugs NEVER have seedpods!! waaaaa I wonder why?!! Maybe I am doing something wrong or just haven't had them out long enough. Mayeb this year the Dr Suess I have that is producing so marvelously will actually do seedpods?? Hmmm.....

Unless you have two different brugs blooming at the same time, you won't get seed pods the natural way. If you have pollen from another brug and paint it on the stigma of your Dr. Suess blooms or another different brug from the pollen donor, you can make your own crosses and that way will know what you will be dealing with when you grow them. In your zone, you should be able to pollinate in early summer and have mature pods before first frost. Most crosses have already been done with the US brugs, but we are now getting some Euro genes here and that may open up a whole new world for us. Try to think about what you want to achieve with your crosses. Do you want a particular color, size, shape, etc.? Do you want to create a line of brugs using the same plants and crossing back to them from year to year? There are a lot of things to think about in trying to get the best brug possible and one that is different from any others already here.
Oops...have to run. DH is ready to take a road trip.

so beautiful and so pink!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

You sure have had tons of blooms this year, Doris. Good for you!

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

She's beautiful, Doris. She's always been a good bloomer for me.

San Jose, CA(Zone 9b)

Doris, she is very pretty and surely generous with her blooms. Maybe Isabella just doesn't hold her leaves well. Mine is also very sparse in the leaf category compared to my other brugs. You grow good "bubblers"!

Dundee, OH(Zone 5b)

LOL I loved that article "Bubblers" too cute!

My Isabella still has all her leaves, but it's cooler here in my zone. Perhaps that is a plus?

Ellicott City, MD(Zone 7a)

Isabella is a tried and true variety! Great job!!

Greensburg, IN(Zone 6a)

Thanks everyone, I had so many calls about my "bubbler" and I have had lots of lookers, they are all amazed that such a plant is growing in Indiana, I gave my friend a rooted start of Dr. Suess and he has blooms, and very excited.

Thanks Brugie for the tips!! I guess I have a LOT to think about over Winter, eh?!! hehehe Bonnie
