I don't know if this really belongs in the tropical forum but here is my plant that I started from seed in February. Does anyone know if the plant needs to be older before it will below?

Abutilon vitifolium
Donna, Your plant looks very healthy. Are you asking how to get it to bloom? I have many of these. I just luv em. They tend to like a lot of sun. They will live with little water but bloom better when well watered. I'd give it a shot of fertilizer also. Good luck. I hope to see photos soon.
Thanks, Kathy. So are you saying that it can bloom the first year from seed? I don't see any buds on it yet and I have been fertilizing it. I didn't have it in complete sun so that could be the reason why. I just hope it likes living in the house during the next how many months. How do you overwinter yours?

I put mine in a south window - full sun. I get many blooms in the winter. How much water do you give it? I does like a lot of water. If it's gets too dry it doesn't seem to flower much. I've only started these from cuttings. I purchased some in the spring also that I'm sure were started from seed. I think that it should bloom soon for you.
I hope so.

Donna, I just looked that one up on the plant files. That's a beauty. I've never seen that one before. Where did you get you seed? I'd like to get some.
What a kick Donna, a few days ago we all were lusting over this one for its color. I have lots of abutilon, but not this one. Yet. LOL
This is to funny, kell! Kathy I had bought seeds off ebay from a couple of different sellers. One I believe was our Kim. I might have one or two extra seedlings that are smaller than the one I posted.

I'm getting into these too now--why not, Elephant Ears, Tropicals of many different kinds, Hibiscus, Brugs, Salvias and Agastaches! What's one more thing?!! hehehe So if anyone has seed for various kinds and these are fairly easy to start from seed I would be grateful. I can trade or do postage. I think I have seeds for one kind--I will have to look for them! hehehe Thanks! Bonnie
