"Soft Paws" for cats

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

I ordered this product for a friend's cat, and put them on her yesterday. I wondered if any of you have used them, and what you thought of them.

He is disabled, and his cat used to be a barn cat where he rents. She is a lovely cat, very friendly and easy to work with. But, after living in the barn for 3-4 years, she is quite used to sharpening her claws. She is shredding the back of his lazyboy type chair. We've tried a water pistol (affectionately called "Smith and Water" ... ) a small throw can, and several good scratching alternatives with positive reinforcement. I found this website for Soft Paws, and thought it would be worth a try. They are little plastic like covers for the claw that are glued on similar to women's fake nails. They come in colors, and since she is a soft gray, we got hot pink ones for her. She licked at them for a couple minutes, and has ignored them since.

I hope they work for keeping her from harming the furniture.

The have a neat web site, if you just do a search for soft paws. They were so simple to put on!
